I have been on the board of the Whitemarsh Art Center for about a year and a half and I am constantly impressed by our teachers and the community we serve. More specifically, the work that our teachers and executive director put in to start and maintain online learning in the covid-19 era has been inspiring.
Fabulous Arts Center! I’ve taken one workshop so far which was fun and informative while making the material very accessible to a variety of skill levels. The workshop leader was great at connecting with teens to adults and making the workshop relaxed but also kept us on track so that we walked out of the workshop with a finished product. I can’t wait to take another class. I also appreciate that Whitemarsh Arts is clearly a community resource and has close ties with the town and local community.
I was brought on board as a painting instructor some 7 years ago. I teach an adult oil painting class and am so impressed by the dedication of the students and the strong support we receive from the education department.
I am also impressed by the dedication of the volunteer members of the board who recognize the art center as the little gem that it is and do all they can to make it vital to the community.
The people, including students, teachers and staff, are what make the Whitemarsh Art Center so special and unique. Students from beginners to advanced get personal attention from the instructors as well as learn from each other. I have seen children go on to study art and adult students go on to participate in juried art shows. After thirty years as a WAC teacher, I have developed many wonderful friendships and consider many of these individuals like family. We all benefit from working and growing together.
The Whitemarsh Art Center is a beacon of culture in the community. They offer learning opportunities for children and adults of all interests and experience levels to engage with top artistic talent and feel empowered to create on their own. Whether it’s painting with Stefanie Lieberman or sculpting with Charlotte Martin and Matthew Courtney, you would be hard pressed to find instructors of better renown and with such a sincere love for their crafts. Check out their free programming and the constantly evolving art gallery which showcases local and international talent. The Whitemarsh Art Center is a local gem hidden in plain sight. Most importantly, it is accessible to people of all income and experience levels.
