As a longtime member of Whatcom Women in Business we strive as part of our mission to support our local non-profits.
Whatcom Women in Business supports five non-profit organizations each year, donating $1,000 to each. Every other month, one of these organizations will choose a guest speaker to attend a membership meeting and share an overview of their organization and their work with our group.
“Charity Bucks” are collected throughout the year at member meetings and donated to a sixth charity at the end of the year. A list of needs will be requested from each charitable organization and will be distributed to our membership during the month of the award.
Whatcom Women in Business is comprised of business owners and managers developing and maintaining proactive role models within the organization and the community at large. Through teaching, learning, leadership and peer support, we strive to exemplify and promote the four areas we honor- leadership, professionalism, mentoring, and community.
The organization supports and promotes education by offering educational scholarships each year to women desiring to further their education.
I'm a proud member of Whatcom Women in Business, and have been for years. My connection to the organization began years ago when I was a student at Western Washington University and they awarded me a scholarship. A little over a year after graduating, I started my own business and joined the group shortly after. I then joined the board, and got to see the hard work and dedication behind the organization firsthand.
These women are incredibly passionate about supporting their community, encouraging women to pursue their education by providing scholarships, and also support each other on both a professional and a personal level. Love them!
