I adopted an adorable 1 1/2 yr old shep mix from Westside. They saved her from the central valley of CA. She came with Bordetella, Da2PPand Rabies as well as being spayed and microchipped. They had just saved her so they told me to contact them if she got sick ( harboring any illness from the shelter she was saved from) and they were there to help. She did get kennel cough. I did call them and they helped me get her past that. That was 4 months ago and she is doing AWESOME!!!
I was impressed how they screen people, they were very nice and helpful when she got sick-I had 2 phone numbers to call if needed, I can’t say a bad thing about them. I would rescue another dog from them. Thank you Westside for my girl

I adopted 2 of my dogs from this organization. As I'm reading reviews with one star, I'm really shocked what people expect from Rescue place. Come on, the guy is going to sue the place because they don't want to let him adopt the puppy german shepherd.... He is a senior, I'm sure it's for best interest for a puppy! That's why they are a dog rescue and they want to make sure that dog is going to get best possible home. There is no discrimination there... ugh!!! More money they spend on stupid law suit less money they will have for dogs! Some people make me sick. And I don't think this guy is animal lover. The other review is also pretty lame... they did get back to you! They are busy helping dogs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway... I love what these guys do for German Shepherds, continue great work

Upon completion of a comprehensive application, lots of personal information and after a successful "okay" from my landlord - I get an email indicating because I am a senior I cannot adopt a GSD under two years old. WTF!
Have you heard of age discrimination and profiling seniors - I am part of the "Blue Zone" an active runner, BP 120/60; resting pulse 41-44 at age 70 but they make no exceptions.
I commend this organization for its mission and compliment the volunteers. But they have lost sight of an important aspect - serving the public.
Do you think I will win this age discrimination lawsuit? We shall see.
We learned about Westside from a few of our baseball friends, we heard nothing but good things about them. So when we lost our 13 year old Rottie to bone cancer, we decided to adopt from Westside. We were impressed by their screening process, got approved and waitied for a puppy to arrive. We liked the idea of Westside becuase we understood they screened the animals, the dogs came vaccinated & spayed/neutered and Westside seemed to truly cared about the animals safety and well being. Imagine my horror when two days after adopting a puppy we received a call from the foster family that our puppy's litter mates tested positive for the parvo virus. We tried calling the director of Westside, but she wouldn't return our calls. Since our puppy had been lethargic, we decided to take him to the emergency, and start treatment after he tested positive too. The next morning, we tried to call the director again, but had no luck. I reached out to our adoption counselor and the foster family and waited several more hours before she finally called us back. She told my husband that the adoption fee ($345) wasn't refundable and she refused to reimburse us for the treatment the pup had already received ($665). She finally agreed to continue his treatment at their vet in Los Angeles, and my husband transported the pup to them. He spent 5 days in the CCU and we finally brought him home today. We've also learned that he tested positive for distemper and are hopeful that he won't have any long lasting effects from it. The worst part is my three other dogs have now been exposed to PARVO and DISTEMPER. I'm not writing this to harm Westside, but to warn potential adopters. Don't trust they have your best interest in mind. They certainly didn't care about the possibility of harming my other dogs, they don't care about the financial impact to my family. We now have a three week period of keeping an active puppy away from three nosy dogs. I'm sick with worry that my other dogs may become ill and I'm afraid this new little one may have a lifetime of issues. Please note....Westside NEVER called to let us know our pup's litter mates were ill, we found out from the foster family. If you doubt any of this review, I'm happy to provide copies of my receipts.
