I’ve been a volunteer with the Westside Pacific Villages for around a year now and I have nothing but great things to say. The organizations mission statement is really important to me. In my short time there I’ve seen the real effects our efforts have on members and I’m thrilled by the fact that we’re changing lives. I can’t recommend this organization enough, whether you’re a volunteer, member, or donor this is an organization worth supporting!

I've had a great experience in helping our clients with their needs, i.e. driving, going on field trips, helping with household needs. I feel that my service is a help to seniors.

I've been involved with WPV for over 10 years, and I continue to be amazed by how special this organization is. Many of us have been around for a while and we have welcomed many new people through the years, and everyone is so kind and giving - I guess good people attract good people! While we all want to support the older members of the community and may have been drawn to WPV for that purpose, as it turns out, we all benefit from the joy and care we share with each other.... and have a lot of fun as well. I highly recommend that you get involved.

I've been involved with WPV for over 10 years and it's been so rewarding. As a volunteer, just a few minutes a week makes such a significant difference in the life of an older adult. Whether it's a phone call to say, "Hi!," picking up and delivering a few groceries, or driving them to an appointment, these small acts of kindness mean so much. I highly recommend that you check out WPV and do what you can to enable our senior neighbors to receive the support, dignity and respect they deserve.

I first became a member/client of WPV in 2018 when I had foot surgery. I needed rides to my doctor because I had to stay completely off my feet for 8 week. I was so impressed with their mission that I became a volunteer, and later a donor and board member.

I have been a volunteer and board member for Westside Pacific Village for many years. The members feel like part of my family. We help each other, we celebrate together (we recently had a fun ice cream social, then a picnic in the park), we learn (WPV puts on seminars) and explore together (we have monthly Metro trips to different sites in the LA area), and our time together is fun! We truly are a community. It feels good and it is rewarding to be a part of the Village. The senior members get the benefit of our assistance (such as rides to doctor appointments or to the hair salon, etc.) and the offered programs and events, and the younger members benefit from the knowledge and experience of our senior members. It is a win win for all of our members, whether client, volunteer or friend of WPV.

Westside Pacific Villages is a great place to volunteer. We help older people stay connected with their neighbors and their communities by providing rides to appointments, help with grocery shopping, classes and social events, etc. and we get to make new friends in the process. More importantly, we get the added benefit of their knowledge and experience. It truly is a village - all for one.

Big hearts, caring people, joy of helping seniors in small but meaningful ways. As a volunteer for over 5 years it is wonderful to bring smiles to our seniors. Simple tasks as driving them to get their hair done, grocery shopping, taking their trash bins off the street and, of course, providing some invaluable transportation to and from doctors visits. Simple get togethers for lunch and happy hours lends itself to social interaction with others. I enjoy being able to give back a little to our neighborhood seniors and, hopefully, one day will progress from giving to receiving.

I have really enjoyed volunteering with the Westside Pacific Villages this year! They are dedicated to empowering older adults to stay socially active and independent as they age in place at home. They help combat loneliness and isolation, and keep people engaged in their communities by helping with at home chores, transportation, and arranging social activities and lectures. Driving members to the Senior Center, hair appointments or to the doctor is a great way to get to know them. I've also helped plan activities and events. There are so many ways to get involved and it's flexible depending on your schedule.

Life without Westside Pacific Villages would be very difficult for me. They have been a life saver. I had been taking my wife to all of my appointments. As her condition deteriorated, it became more difficult for her to maneuver the sitting in the car and the voluminous walking distances We then discovered WPV who have been providing us with tender loving caregivers. My wife has bonded with everyone of them and this has given me such peace of mind. All volunteers have been caring and respectful of my wife and our home.

I am a volunteer with WPV and I have met so many lovely people in the process. For me, being part of WPV has been a way to get involved in my community. I have set up deliveries, made deliveries, attended parties, and participated in a couple of trips. The trips have made use of public transportation to get to museums, and enjoy lunch with new friends.

Westside Pacific Villages (WPV) strives to create a world where seniors can grow and flourish as they age, staying connected to friends and people in their communities. WPV is a nonprofit organization that operates with warmth, a heart of gold and a noble purpose that goes beyond comparison. The staff and volunteers work tirelessly to deliver a ride, home visit, active programs that bring our members together and they do all this and more with grace, compassion and a passion that brings a smile of comfort to our seniors. WPV is making a huge impact on our seniors and volunteers, and I am beyond honored to be a part of this wonderful community.

Westside Pacific Villages is a great community-based agency that has a big impact on the lives of older adults in the neighborhood. It's also a great way to connect with other community members in the area through service and civic engagement. They were instrumental over the COVID-19 pandemic to help older adults stay connected to essentials (along with social interactions to minimize the negative impacts of loneliness and isolation).

Ten plus years ago I became a vetted vendor for Westside Pacific Villages. A couple years later, I knew I wanted to volunteer. I am so grateful that I did, because I came to meet so many members and member/volunteers. There is nothing like partnering with giving people who love being of service and have some fun along the way by making sure our elders have some. Covid lock down hit, and this core of great people came together to mobilize and continue to serve the most vulnerable in our community, irrespective of their ability to pay for service during this difficult time. Earlier this year I was approached about my willingness to become a board member. It took me very little time to give a resounding "yes", as I could not think of a better way to spend time and energy helping WPV continue to serve and grow and make a difference in so many lives.

As a close observer of Westside Pacific Villages since its inception, I have been privileged to see the very unique and matchless position this non-profit has held in Westchester and surrounding communities for many years. No other organization in this area has helped more older adults achieve peace of mind, opportunities for personal growth and friendships, and connections to the larger community than WPV. Peace of mind comes with the safety and comfort of being in ones own home. Reaching new levels of growth is exciting when shared with a diversity of new friends with different life stories. Every month brings new ideas and information through the Monthly Newsletter, New activities are highlighted, with tips on healthy aging. New adventures and social events await through the Metro and transportation to the party of the month!. WPV has the capability and experience to bring this serenity and sense of well being to all its members and it delivers!

I have been involved with Westside Pacific Villages (WPV) for over a decade. They are a wonderful organization with a mission that we should all care about - older people in our community. I have always been amazed at the compassion, patience, support and genuine caring that is exhibited by WPV's staff, volunteers and those who are involved. It is truly a "village" of loving people who just want to help the older residents in our community enjoy living and aging in the neighborhoods they love, from the places they call "home". Cheers to WPV and all those involved! You are most definitely a GREAT NONPROFIT!

I am a senior in my eighties that lost the use of my car. I heard about Westside Pacific Villages about two years ago and I joined. I am extremely happy with the services they provide to me.

Most of the time, I get their help for my weekly grocery shopping. A very kind and patient volunteer picks me from my condo and drives me to the store. S\he helps me with picking the items I need, sometimes reading for me the information printed on the packages.

After loading the four+- full bags in the car, s\he drives me home. What s\he does now is something I couldn't do without. S\he takes these bags up the stairs to my third floor condo.

Without the services provided to me by Westside Pacific Villages, it would be impossible for me to live an independent life. Thank you very much Westside Pacific Villages (WPV).

During the onset of the pandemic and for the next 3 years, I volunteered in the assembly of gift bags containing various items that were delivered weekly to WPV senior members in the community and surrounding areas. The response from the seniors of these weekly deliveries was heartwarming. Sometimes, it was the only means of human contact during the pandemic; they didn't feel alone when they knew people cared for them. In addition, it was fun for them to see what was contained in the bags. Providing transportation to doctor's appointments, banks, and pharmacies was also a valued service provided by WPV for the seniors.

WPV volunteers were also assigned seniors to check-in and engage in conversation. These calls were welcomed. In fact, this important service assisted in saving the life of a member who is now 100 years old. When she didn't respond to a phone call, the next door neighbor was contacted and found her unable to move from a fall and in a great deal of pain. She is now well-taken care of but if WPV had not provided this service, it would have been a different story. There are many more stories about the care and essential services of WPV that benefit seniors who want to remain in their homes. We are fortunate to have this organization and its experienced staff in our community.

I am so proud to be a volunteer for Westside Pacific Villages. It is a wonderful organization dedicated to helping older adults live independently in the comfort of their own homes and neighborhoods for as long as possible. Our clients are such lovely, interesting people, and I have really enjoyed getting to know them and hearing all about their life stories as I drive them to doctor's appointments, take them shopping, drop off deliveries, or help with light housework. And they're all so incredibly appreciative. It's a pleasure helping them.

The WPV team is also wonderful. They're so friendly and supportive of both the clients and the volunteers. It's a great feeling knowing that you're doing volunteer work that's not only
critical to those we serve, but is also really valued and appreciated.

On behalf of Kate L. "It doesn't take long to become a part of this family, whether you're a volunteer or a client. As a driver, I enjoy chit chatting with these elders who need help getting to their appointments. How much nicer for them to see a friendly familiar face, rather than relying on a more anonymous and expensive option. There's no pressure on volunteers to show up; we make it work with our calendars and there's so much support and gratitude from HQ. The coordination takes great talent and grace. WPV pulls it off beautifully and everyone wins."

I have fallen in love with this organization! It has such an impact on so many lives. It gives support by helping them stay in the comfort of their own homes, keeping them active, both physically and socially; and most importantly, it brings a smile to their faces. I do believe it extends their physical and mental well being resulting in a longer quality of life. In addition, it is very rewarding to volunteer because you get to spend one on one time with the seniors creating true friendships. What I find most unique about this organization is how every person is treated as their own individual. The staff knows each person by name, their family, their living conditions, what special care they need, and how to serve them best.

I just can't believe what a great group this is!" My daughter-in-law looked puzzled. I am a 92 year old low income senior in Ocean Park Santa Monica, living alone and at high risk for covid19. When I needed a ride to see my doctor taking the bus was not an option. I could not find anyone to drive me to the appointment. The Ocean Park Assn members were too busy to offer, but WPV pitched in. Not only do they offer rides to see your doctor, but they offer many other services for the elderly who are confined to home. Every Friday a WPV volunteer comes to my door with a goody bag and a chearful face. If you live alone and relatives are at a distance it feels good to know that you will have someone call even if it is just for a few minutes. The "goodies" also supplied by volunteers vary but they usually include snacks, a news letter, and zoom led activities for housebound seniors.
There are other services, like a lending library which I haven't used and oothers that I may not be aware of. But when I have emailed for a need the response is there shortly. I truly appreciate what WPV is doing for seniors for free at this time of special needs, especially in contrast to my local neighborhood association in Santa Monica.

I live in Atlanta Georgia, and my parents live in Culver City, CA.
My dad is 93 and my mom is 91 years old.
Before the Covid 19 pandemic hit, WPV would drive my parents to the grocery store and to the bank...then when CA had high Covid 19 infections my parents stopped going out.
WPV "transitioned" to getting the groceries for them and dropping it off at their house!
All my mom has to do is make a grocery list! (they can stay safe at home!)
It is amazing and such a big help! I am so grateful for their services, they really cater to the elderly population. They are highly organized and it is amazing how they make everything happen! They have also dropped off masks, hand sanitizers, food, flowers..too many to list, and they also make social calls to the house etc..

I’ve been volunteering with Westside Pacific Villages since May of 2020. I joined because I wanted to help seniors during this difficult time from a remote distance. I have been calling two women and telling them about our Friday special deliveries, listening, chatting with them and providing other assistance where I can. Recently WPV asked me to put my skills (I am a writer) to use by running a remote book club and I’m looking forward to that as well.

In general I’ve been very impressed with our organizers—they are prompt in replying to queries and requests from my clients and from me. The clients I call has told me how much they appreciate the deliveries. They used to volunteer there too and they miss it (one volunteered in the office, which is currently closed due to Covid, and the other has health issues now and can’t volunteer). They are pleased to be called and appreciative of WPV.

WPV also delivers groceries and provides services to medical appointments to seniors who can’t do these things. In non—Covid times they offer a plethora of services, everything from walking buddies to gardening assistance to troubleshooting computer problems! They’re a great organization and I love that they recently expanded their network to serve people experiencing financial hardship.

I am a volunteer driver for this group. I was scheduled to pick up a member at her home in Marina Del Rey and take her to a doctor appointment. I had her home address and had found it clearly indicated on Map Quest. But when I drove to her area in the Marina, I could not find the particular street (Promenade Way). I drove back and forth several times and couldn't see it. So I went to the Coast Guard Station nearby and asked them about the address. They looked at me nervously and told me they couldn't help me. So I decided to go to the nearby Public Library and ask for assistance. They were very helpful and told me that Promenade Way was only a walkway, not a street, and there was only a certain way to access it. That information helped me find where to park my car and walk over to the address that I was looking for. Fortunately, when I met the member finally, there was still enough time to get her to her appointment on time. I was very determined to do that!

Westside Pacific Villages brings so much value to our community, especially helping seniors and other vulnerable populations to remain active and independent in the comfort and security of their space. When the pandemic hit, I just so happened to be serving as president of the Westchester Rotary Club, and WPV spearheaded the coalition in our community to ensure seniors and/or with compromised health conditions were able to have the essentials and more. It's been 6 months since COVID hit and WPV is still delivering weekly meals, calling the 200 clients weekly, running errands for essentials, and transporting clients to doctor's appointments. I am proud to be a part of this village, and the WPV staff has been amazing, handling over 100 volunteers at any given time. Lots of respect and appreciation for Carol & team.

Zoom classes have been wonderful. Helping seniors manage their solitude by providing these online connections has been a huge blessing during Covid. Thank you!

The Westside Pacific Villages allows me the opportunity to do good. The best part is that I know I am doing good because I see the appreciation in the faces of the members.

I began volunteering for WPV, and as I senior myself, I saw a great need being filled. Being able to stay independent in our homes is so important, and the services WPV provides helps us to do that. I love that this organization is mult-generational-we learn so much about each other by helping one another. We come away with a better understanding and compassion. Being able to stay connected and engaged in these unprecedented times has been a win-win for volunteers and clients.

Westside Pacific Villages is the heart for seniors in the Westchester Community and local surrounding areas. Their mission on supporting adults to remain active and independent is accomplished through all the services they provide. WPV is thriving in eradicating isolation for the elder community. WPV has a variety of events that pave the way for the elderly to stay connected with society. One fact that will happen to each of us is growing old. At one point in many of our lives, we will need this type of organization to support us. Please join us in supporting the elderly. They deserve it!

I am telling this story as a long time board member of Westside Pacific Villages. From its initial inception this group of compassionate, community minded people have sought to make life safe, comfortable, interesting, and joyful for older adults in Westchester and surrounding environs. Providing transportation for those who longer drive and offering the society and friendship of many wonderful volunteers, WPV has become a force for dynamic living through an array of activities and outings that enrich the every day lives of so many. The WPV monthly newsletter abound with stories of the good life for our members.

WPV is a wonderful program that helps people stay in their homes instead of going to a retirement facility. In addition to helping others, being a volunteer is so rewarding. I have met the most interesting people in the years I have volunteered with WPV and feel that I get more benefit from WPV than those who ask for our help.

I am a volunteer with Westside Pacific Villages, an organization devoted to neighbors helping neighbors "age in place." I have met some of the most interesting and vibrant seniors in our community as a result, and feel so thrilled that I can help them in a small way. Driving them to a doctor's appointment, helping set up their medication for the month, or making a friendly visit with my dog mean a great deal to someone with limited mobility or failing eyesight. This organization is so well run, with caring people at the helm. My involvement is the most important thing I do each week and I am so proud to be an active volunteer!!

“I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and found that life was service. I acted and, behold, service was joy.” — Rabindranath Tagore. I have always loved this quote because it exhibits warmth and true meaning to life. When I retired that was what I wanted - an authentic life of growing and giving. Westside Pacific Villages was my first choice for volunteering after I retired. I have always worked with the elderly in healthcare and this organization continued that work in a very unique and wonderful way by helping the elderly in my neighborhood. I immediately had a regular trip to help one lady who had just signed up for help and she has become a very good friend too. We actually were connected from my grammar school days as her daughter was in my same class and girl scout troop!!

When people come together great things happen. WPV is part of the Village Movement that helps people remain in their own home, in the neighborhood and community where they live. We are fortunate to have a village, founded 10 years ago, that is thriving and growing to serve an ever larger geographic area of older adults living in the western areas of LA county.

WPV connects older adults, many who live alone, with neighbors who help to provide rides and basic services, such as moving garbage cans weekly. it also connects people, older adults, students and volunteers with one another through social activities that decrease isolation and increase community connections making healthier lives for all.

Westside Pacific VIllages is a special gem in Los Angeles. Everybody that works and/or volunteers with WPV is truly a good hearted person who cares deeply about the well-being of others, in particular, the oldest members of our community. If you're looking for a special volunteer opportunity, look no further than WPV. Volunteering with WPV is being the change you want to see in the World.

WPV is one of my favorite organizations to volunteer. The WPV staff members are such good human beings and are flexible with my full-time work schedule. I help out weekly by taking trash bins in and out, and I love attending the social events and catching up with everybody. WPV warms up my soul.

My volunteer work at WPV has truly been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. In the beginning I was volunteering to drive two to three times a week -- and now my schedule is often two to three times a day. The appreciation and hugs I receive make my heart sore. And, the relationships developed with my "regulars" enrich me every drive. I know first-hand just how challenging it can be for an out-of-town family member to provide services and care for their loved ones. That's where WPV comes to the rescue! Knowing that you are making a difference in people's lives makes a genuine difference in you own.

I have been driving my fellow seniors in WPV for about eight years and it is a great organization. Caring, personable, always helpful staff and other volunteers and it keeps me feeling young, active and useful to be able to help others who cannot drive anymore in their time of need.

I have volunteered at several nonprofits over the years including NYCares and Habitat for Humanity and without a doubt, my experience with Westside Pacific Villages has been the best! I'm so thankful that they exist and seeing their work with the senior community (and being a part of it) has been such a transforming experience for me. As a senior care volunteer with one of WPV's elderly members, I was impressed from the first day with how organized the volunteer orientation was and it was lovely to have a luncheon to meet the other volunteers! Carol and her entire team is always helpful and so caring! I meet weekly with an elderly woman named Eileen and while my main role is to keep her company and help out with driving her to medical appointments, she has now become a dear friend of mine despite our 60+ year age difference! I'm now working on getting other people my age (millenials) involved as volunteers and discussing ways with the WPV Board to bring more art programming to the WPV member community given my access to the art community in Los Angeles. Thank you WPV for all of the joy you have brought into my life because I am a part of your community here in Los Angeles!

This organization has made our community a better place as it connects our residents. It is a village in its truest sense where "neighbors are helping neighbors". In this day of social isolation, this 'village' keeps us connected, engaged, and active. As a volunteer, I love the many local residents I have met. I am convinced that this model of a village has much potential for future growth.

I am a newer volunteer for Westside Pacific Villages. This is a well run organization that is guided by a staff of individuals who have a true passion to help those in the community who are sometimes forgotten. The clients love the volunteers and staff and make the entire service one that we can all feel good about. The small staff runs the organization truly from the heart and in service to others, not for themselves. They are unselfish and treat the work as more of a calling than a job.

I am glad to be able to volunteer and help others through this organization. When I am done helping for the day, I feel good about my contributions but even better about having a top notch non profit like this in the community. It is a tremendous benefit to both clients and volunteers.

Westside Pacific Villages is truly a gem! I have been volunteering at this organization for around 10 months now and I am very impressed by the impact that this organization is having on the senior community, on volunteers, and how well-run it is. Whenever I interact with the members that this organization serves, they are always the nicest and most appreciative people with such interesting stories to tell. The same goes for the volunteers. The office staff, led by the talented Carol, is always on top of things and provides a fantastic experience for volunteers and members alike! I feel very blessed to have come across this great organization and I look forward to working with them for many years to come!

Being a senior and loosing my ability to drive, WPV has been a God send to help keep my independence and staying in my own home. The staff and volunteers go out of their way to be helpful. I can't say enough good about this organization. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
