Mission: It is the mission of westhab in mount vernon to provide quality, affordable housing in the city of mount vernon; to improve its neighborhoods through community development initiatives; to improve the economic potential of the mount vernon community through programs of capital and economic development; and to serve as a catalyst for positive social, physical and economic change in the city of mount vernon through a diverse, community-based board of directors and an inclusive planning process.
Programs: Westhab in mount vernon through its affiliation with westhab, inc. Supports 52 housing units at two mt. Vernon locations. All housing units are affordable for very low income tenants. Through affiliation with westhab and its dss emergency housing apartment program, tenants are provided with intensive on-site supportive services. A community resource center is located at 49 east third street, where though affiliation with westhab, an employment service program is operated which is available to neighborhood residents and a youth program is operated serving 150 teenagers and young adults.
