When I came to WVCC I had recently experienced two personal losses in
a short period of time in my life. After speaking with Dr. Burnett she recommended the "Growth and Transition Workshops" to me. She felt
that I could benefit from this experience. I went and I did. I would recommend this organization to anyone I know who needs any of their
services. The WVCC staff is professional, caring and honest. Just what
you want when you need it.

The West Valley Counseling Center is a gem in Tarzana. We in the West Valley are lucky to have such a caring and competent group of counselors available at an affordable price. At a time when resources are scarce, I’m glad that I don’t have to put off getting the expert help I need for my emotional well being. Thank you WVCC for being there.

I attended West Valley Counseling Center's Open House last year and got the opportunity to meet with many of their therapists. I was so impressed at how personable and professional they were that I referred a family member to them for counseling services. I anticipate they will be around for a very long time as word of mouth travels.

I was introduced to Dr. Burnett by a member of her advisory team on marketing--meeting at local coffee shop, I was immediately struck by the clairity and passion of her vision: truly affordable mental health care for the community in a comfortable setting. As a designer, I might be able to help better communicate the Center's message and visitor reach. We successfully (and quickly!) redesigned the center's graphic identity (logo, mailing, etc) by the opening event of the center's non-profit status. I am delighted to be working with the Center on redesigning the website. My goal is to help the Center create a website which is not only sets a tone, presence, and basic information, but is eventually seen as a community--an extention of the physical office. Like most people, I've had my unexpected life experiences which led me or members of my family to need such vital services; the Center is doing vital work, and I am glad that design can contribute to that work.

Having been a long-time client and finding previously un-imaginable improvements in my life and relationships through counseling, I can say with conviction that this center has all the right tools in place for assisting you in navigating back to a path that enriches your life instead of damaging it. Dr. Burnett, guiding me to look ever inward and giving me the safe space, and safe practices, is a true practitioner of healthy and healing counseling for anyone seeking an honest and open path to being a better person or partner.

I believe that if a counselor keeps you coming back indefinitely with no plan to move beyond needing therapy, then they aren't effective. I appreciate Dr. Burnett and the team at West Valley for having a short term approach..."let's help you get the skills you need to be more powerful in your life immediately so you can move on to better things."

Additionally, there is a real gap in services for struggling working class and middle class folks. The wealthy and upper middle can afford therapy, the poor can often get it provided through free programs. But for the rest of us, struggling to make ends meet and to create a happy life for our families, therapy is often financially out of reach. West Valley is operating on a business model to change that and make these important life improving services available and affordable to those of us in "the gap."

I am familiar with several counselors at West Valley Counseling Center, including the Director. I know their dedicated staff to be of the highest character and expertise as well as their dedication to providing low cost counseling services to the Valley community. My son was provided counseling service with them over a period of two years and benefitted greatly under their guidance. I have recommended them to friends in the past with complete confidence.
