I have been volunteering for almost four years now. I enjoy being there and with the other volunteers it makes it a wonderful environment to be in. The caring for each other is awesome. The management of that pantry is awesome. They have met every challenge put before them. With all the changes put into place for the benefit of the client so they can feel more welcome and comfortable with their shopping experience. How they expanded into virtual is also a great thing again for the client. They help so many families I know after my shift there will be food on the clients table that night. You can’t ask for a better feeling than that.

I moved to the area 4 years ago. I had been volunteering before my move from God’s country (Valparaiso, Indiana), so I knew I’d need to continue in some capacity here in Illinois. West Suburban Community Pantry was an answer to my prayer for purpose. I’ve volunteered in several capacities where I can interact with our wonderful customers, staff and volunteers. The facilities are very efficiently run and the local community is extremely generous. Thank you, WSCP!

So many things have changed since I started volunteering in 2010. We are able to feed so many more families, there are many more fresh options plus more locations and ways for our clients to order and receive the food they need. The staff is truly dedicated to making WSCP the best pantry experience around.

I've been volunteering a little more than a year. It feels good to know that everything we do there is helping someone we come face-to-face with every time we work. Some of the individuals who receive our services are also volunteers themselves, which is pretty incredible. Everyone is treated with the greatest respect and friendliness, both volunteers and recipients.

This is the most well organized and efficient community food bank I have experienced. Colleen and her team of volunteers do a great job assisting families with their needs. They provide services in a manner that help people to thrive without losing their dignity. I look forward to future volunteer opportunities.

I began volunteering at the pantry in 2021. It is a great place to volunteer. It is well run, we have ample food and provide a clean and safe atmosphere for our clients. Our clients are always very grateful for everything the pantry does for them.

I have been involved with West Suburban Community Pantry for over 20 years. I have served as a volunteer, on their Board of Directors, and their Advisory Council. This organization truly seeks to provide for those in need, making food easily obtainable. The staff genuinely care about those they serve, and they do see themselves as servants.

We hear from our clients often that we're the best pantry around. It's a wonderful place to volunteer; everyone cares and is ready to work hard. We do our best to help all that visit feel comfortable and provide a service that emulates a local store.

I started volunteering in 2020 in the midst of the Pandemic and have watched the incredible growth the pantry has experienced since then. I am regularly told, by our clients, how grateful they are for all the pantry provides. Clients shop as the would in a grocery store without the worries of the cost of each item. I see so many smiles as clients are greeted and made to feel welcome. I can’t speak highly enough about WSCP. It is an amazing nonprofit.

I began volunteering with WSCP in February and also became a Board Member. I have worked at food pantries in the past and this pantry has FRESH FRESH produce and lots of it. The small but mighty team works well together, has the interest of the community at the base of all they do. The staff responds to requests and get the job done. Paul is an amazing Manager of the Pantry and recently hired Carlos who speaks Spanish and English fluently. Both are very organized, have exceptional customer service skills, listen, care, follow up and works above and beyond every day. They manage thousands of pounds of food a week in such a humble manner. The volunteers know their role thanks to Colleen who provides a new hire orientation and sets integrity as a value for everyone. Lisa is our Director of Development and organizes very professional and fun events on an ongoing basis. All of these folks report to Sue Armato a dedicated and caring CEO with a history of non profit management. Sue is leading the team to expand the pantry and meet the customer by speaking in their preferred languages and have set up a virtual pantry for those who cannot shop. Special needs are met on a daily basis. Stop by the pantry to see this amazing place and team. You will be welcomed with open arms!
