Mission: The west madison senior center was established in 1975. Our mission is to help older adults stay independent and active in our community by providing programs, services, and resources. Our programs and services include case management, senior center activities, nutrition program, and home chore program. We seek to serve, help, and improve the lives of older adults in west madison.
Programs: The case management program is designed to provide older adults, age 60 and over, the support they need to live independently in the community by identifying resources and coordinating supportive services. During 2017, the coalition provided case management services to 273 clients.
senior activities at the senior center provided a broad range of opportunities to 8,643 (duplicated) older adults with 1,249 hours of programming.
the volunteer home chore program has community volunteers assisting older adults with a variety of housekeeping tasks and yard work, including raking, lawn care, and snow shoveling. In 2017 we served 94 clients with 110 volunteers who gave 1,381 hours.
the nutrition program is funded by dane county under the older americans act. The coalition oversees nutritious meal sites for senior adults at several locations on the west side of madison. In addition to a delicious, full meal, socialization, entertainment, and educational programs are provided following the meal. Guests 60 years of age or older are asked to provide anonymous donations. Guests under 60 years of age are asked to pay the full cost of the meal. In 2017 we served 5,562 meals.
