Causes: Amateur Sports Competitions, Sports
Mission: The mission of the west chester area sports association (wcasa) is to promote and develop all sports (baseball, football, lacrosse, soccer, softball), and to develop each athlete to the maximum of his or her ability and goals, and to foster a spirit of sportsmanship and fellowship within and among its members. Wcasa is committed to sports excellence and sportsmanship and strives to be the premier sports organization and facility in pennsylvania. In pursuit of these goals, wcasa is committed to providing the best available facilities, coaches and opportunities for its players in all sports and all ages within the resources of the wcasa. Each player in each of the sports shall be afforded the opportunity to play at the highest level commensurate with his or her ability and commitment to the game. As a non-profit organization run by volunteers, the continued success of wcasa is dependent upon the active and expected participation of parents/guardians and players.
Programs: Since 1996, the west chester area sports association (wcasa) has provided a recreational facility for more than 10,000 (estimated) league participants each year (ages 4-80) through the organized sports of soccer, football, lacrosse, baseball, softball. Additional exposure through special events is in the area of an additional 5,000 outside players. We estimate our exposure to be 12,000-15,000 local residents annually comprised of both male and female participants affiliated with the following leagues:west chester united soccer club - youth soccerwest chester lacrosse association (wc lax)little all-american football association (lafa) - youth football and cheerleadingeast side little league (esll) - youth baseballchester county coed softball league - adult recreational men's & women's softballchester county slow-pitch softball league - adult men's softballchurch modified softball league - adult men's softball teams sponsored by local churcheswest chester wildfire softball league - youth girls fast-pitch softballwest chester modified softball league - adult men's softballbrandywine valley senior softball league - adult men's softball (over 50 years of age)wcasa sports complex has also hosted numerous community affairs such as chester county sheriffs canine training and various non-profit benefit events to raise both money and awareness for items such as american cancer society, spca, traumatic brain injury awareness, chester county hero fund, esll challenger series (disabled youth), breast cancer awareness, childhood cancer research, et al. Funds are raised through entry fees and donations during these special events. Wcasa sports complex is a 17-acre facility built with monetary and trade donations in 1996 and continues to operate as a non- profit entity with no regular municipal funding. Wcasa strives off the donated time of thousands of adult participants as well as the parents of thousands of youth and with local businesses to enable our continued operation as a state of the art facility. It consists of 5 lighted playing fields including (1) official little league baseball field, (2) softball fields per specification of the amateur softball association of pa, (1) football / lacrosse field based on national federation of high schools specifications, (1) soccer field based on nfhs specifications. The fields are maintained from moneys raised through league entry fees, local business donated services, and participant assessments. All operational expenses are billed to the leagues quarterly. Wcasa is responsible for common area expenses, concessions expenses, and large upgrades / repairs.
