Mission: The mission of west african mercy ministries is to provide for the needs in west africa, specifically caring for children, including special needs children, in hospice in accra, ghana.
Programs: West african mercy ministries (wamm) continues its care for terminally ill and at risk children in its children's hospice house of mercy (home). Through the baby bed sponsorship program home able to provide care to an average of eight children, including many with moderate to severe special needs, as well as assisting several children to find their forever homes through adoption. Wamm was able to provide the resources necessary to operate home, including staffing the children's home and maintaining the leased facilities. Meanwhile, wamm was able to purchase a 1. 5 acre parcel of land and construct a security wall around the perimeter of that land. This property will be developed into permanent facilities for home. It is our plan to build four children's homes, an office/nursing clinic and a large roofed pavilion for play during inclement weather as well as a community kitchen and laundry facility. Wamm is projecting to have the first of four children's home built and operational on the new property by the end of 2017. We also hope to have the construction of the second home under way. This will allow wamm. The department of social development (dsd) of ghana is encouraging wamm to build quickly since home is reportedly (by dsd to wamm) the only facility in country willing to take children into hospice care intentionally.
