Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Human Service Organizations, Human Services

Mission: Wfc offers support and resources for people who are homeless, those with substance abuse issues and those in need of food, shelter, clothing and other basic needs. Wfc also offers school on water and other programs in a summer camp program for kids at risk. Year round programs are provided offering educational and recreational assistance to many children identified at risk. Concerts are organized and performed in a community park free of charge in an effort to promote community spirit and support.

Programs: Kids at risk - this is a summer camp for kids at risk ages 7 through 15. For 9 weeks in the summer the director with approximately 115 differing volunteer counselors 35 kids are provided with academic activities, social skills as well as educational and recreational field trips. Year round programs include music classes, mentoring and tutoring programs for about 50 youths. Back to school backpack and clothing drives are conducted. 15 adults assist with this program during the school year.

treatment - we care and friends placed 74 men and women into short and long term residential treatment programs for substance abuse.

community - a public park owned by the county and maintained by the city of annapolis provides a stage for activities and concerts for the community at large free of charge. This is considered a valuable community gathering place for area residents. Each concert has an average of 100 to 200 people in attendance.

we care and friends provided needed support for community members in many other ways such as assistance with housing, legal, medical,, transportation, food, and utilities. All monies brought into the organization was spent on services to the needy excluding the cost for occupancy and office expenses which amounted to $19247.
