I came in contact with SHSC in January of 2023 when I lost my son and his organs were gifted to others. They have not only became a trusted resource to me in this journey I never wanted to be a part of but found myself in but they have become family along with the others they have connected me with on similar (never the same) journeys. I have gained knowledge and support through this amazing organization.

We are Sharing Hope SC have been wonderful partners with our program at MUSC Health. As Executive Director for Quality Excellence at MUSC Health, I have held several Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification classes within the walls of We are Sharing Hope SC. The goal is to share education, application, skills and knowledge to Healthcare Leaders and Care Team Members who provide health care to our patients. This education provides concepts, tools and strategies for better efficiency, less quality errors and improved patient safety leading to better outcomes. Our goal is ZERO HARM to our patients, their families and our care team members.
We Are Sharing Hope SC leaders have been wonderful in every way and allowing us to provide training to our healthcare leaders. A huge thank you to Calista, Chastity, Brian and many others. Without this partnership, we would not be able to share important strategies with our healthcare leaders who can help us drive toward ZERO HARM. Thank you!

This organization has walked alongside me for over 30 years as I have navigated my pathway of grief. They have allowed me to tell my son's story, to say his name, and to honor his legacy of organ donation. Their work has allowed me to meet so many grateful recipients and other grieving families with whom I could commiserate. We Are Sharing Hope SC is part of my world, part of my journey...and part of my family. Patrick Lee Miller 3/22/90 - 9/26/92

Being the Services Chairman of the Pawleys Island (South Carolina) Lions Club, the correspondence I receive and that I forward to our members is a great way to get and keep our members involved in the many events you hold. Our FREE Senior Health Fair attracts many seniors in our area where we can tell them about Sharing Hope. One of our goals is getting everyone registered as an Organ, Eye and Tissue donor; many do not know that this program exists. We provide free mamograms as well.

I have spent 32 years in the ER in South Carolina and have worked with Sharing Hope many times after we have had a death in our department. They are always kind, compassionate and professional in this capacity. In 2018 I became a donor hero wife when I lost my husband, John, who was an organ donor. I have been a volunteer with this organization since that time as my schedule allows. Here is what they do so well: Sharing Hope is passionate about their mission AND they successfully achieve the balance of celebrating those given new life through organ donation while never forgetting the cost. That is a tough thing to do and they do it beautifully.

I am a double lung transplant recipient and have volunteered with SHSC for nearly a decade. My experience has been excellent. Every organization member I have met is passionate about what they do, and that passion motivates volunteers. This organization is a critical resource for the transplant community and the broader community. Participating in many events throughout the year, volunteers work with supportive, knowledgeable staff to educate others about organ, eye, and tissue donation and the importance of registering as a donor. I am proud to volunteer with this outstanding organization and look forward to many more years.

I met a We Are Sharing Hope SC employee randomly because he was wearing a shirt that said "Ask me about organ donation." My nephew has received a kidney from a living donor, and I wanted to help do my part for organ donation. That employee gave me a tour of their facility and introduced me to many staff including the volunteer and outreach team. I felt so welcomed and everyone was so genuinely kind, professional, and supportive. I have volunteered at a few We Are Sharing Hope SC events, and every time I feel like I am part of their family. I see the compassion from the staff in the way they greet and remember every story from donors and recipients. They are truly a wonderful organization!

The average person has probably never heard of We are Sharing Hope SC. Most people don’t live in the world where organ transplants happen except on TV. I had a liver transplant in May 2000 due to a genetic condition called Alpha1 Anti-Tripson Deficiency. When a doctor looks you in the eye and tells you you need an organ transplant your world changes. You start looking at things from a whole different perspective. I started volunteering in 2002 with Donate Life, SC and Gift of Life (Lifepoint). Things have come a long way since then. I have volunteered at hundreds of health fairs, 5K races, spoken at donor ceremonies and churches and any other event where they needed volunteers. I also love helping out in the office preparing bags for the race or preparing items to be sent to donor families or just anything they need me to do. I love being around these people and trying to give back for the wonderful gift of life that I received. I feel like it’s my duty and honor to help others who are waiting for a transplant and walking an unknown path in life. The employees at We Are Sharing Hope SC are remarkable. You can see the happiness and joy in them because they love the jobs that they do. Their heart is really in their work and that makes a huge difference. I feel honored to be a part of their volunteer organization and I hope that I can continue for many more years. It really lifts me up when I go to to help out in the office because everyone there is so upbeat and happy and I just enjoy being around them. The love they have for their job and the people that they help shows in every aspect of their personality. They are truly making a difference in the lives of everyday people and the work that they do is so important. They are literally saving lives. Being a volunteer for We Are Sharing Hope SC means so much to me.

As a Volunteer and Family Donor Recipient, I cannot give We Are Sharing Hope SC enough accolades. My Brother is a two-time Liver recipient, and We Are Sharing Hope handled all the logistics to ensure everything was handled and taken care of when a Donor was located. I was so impressed with their professionalism, dedication and impact, that I felt compelled to become a Faithful Volunteer. Their services and programs are diverse and inclusive, catering to various needs within the community and state-wide. Whether it's providing educational opportunities, health services, or social support, they approach each initiative with compassion. Volunteering with We Are Sharing Hope has been incredibly rewarding. The organization provides ample opportunities for volunteers to get involved, making it easy to contribute time and skills. Overall, they are an exemplary organization that embodies the true spirit of non-profit and donor procurement services. Their unwavering dedication is truly inspiring. They are making a real difference.
