Wayside House saved my life over three years ago! I went to several rehabilitation places and programs but they were not at all near what Wayside House taught me. If interested after the initial stay at Wayside, they offer step down programs which I accepted. I wanted to stay connected to Wayside House so I also did their PHP program, IOP program and OP program. I am now Alumni and stay connected through their Peer Support group which I love. Thank you Wayside House Staff! I am forever grateful!! Erin L.
Wayside is the reason I have been sober for 11 years now. I appreciate how they helped in my recovery and always help me even to this day.
There are not enough words to express the gratitude I have for Wayside House. I came into Wayside House as a completely broken woman - physically, mentally and spiritually. With the amazing staff and program offered, I was able to find myself, work through my issues, learn how to live, and rebuild my life into something more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. They helped me gain confidence and bring back my zest for life. I have now been sober for over 7 years after leaving Wayside House. My life has changed and I will forever be grateful for them.
I was in the grips of trauma and substance abuse for most of my life, tried different programs, groups and therapists but could never beat it for long. In 2015 when i was at my lowest and 47 years old, i went into in patient treatment at Wayside house. The house is a warm safe environment like a home not an institution, the staff compassionate and experts in their fields. They walked me back from the abyss i had been living at the edge most of my life, gave me a safe place to fall apart and support and tools to build a strong, healthy person. They didn't give me my life back, they gave me a life worth living. I've been substance free since that day. Their program guides you throughout your journey, for 18 months they held my hand as i moved through each phase of their program. 3 months inpatient, 2 months outpatient 3 days a week, and 6 months outpatient weekly, worth every second. They have extensive alumni services. Wayside grabs onto you and has their hand out for the rest of your life if you need them. They are unique in this industry. I am proud to be a wayside Alumni, I can never repay what was so freely given to me.

Wayside House is a hidden brightly glowing Gem for Women's recovery in Delray Beach Florida. They have been consistently helping Women for almost 50 years. In 2015 I was a client at Wayside and for the first time in my life, I received care and services for Trauma-related disorders and substance abuse issues that I had so desperately needed. The level of compassion embedded in the walls of this place is phenomenal, every member of the staff from top to bottom is dedicated to seeing Women recover and live their best lives. I was so lucky to have found this hidden oasis and am still thriving in my recovery. I now volunteer as often as possible with them in order to give back a small measure of what was so lovingly and freely given to me. There is no better place to start a long and difficult journey then Wayside House

Wayside House is an incredible place. Every penny goes towards helping women recover from alcoholism and drug addiction! A very small portion of donations goes towards fundraising! In today’s charity market that is unbelievable! Very proud of them and the work they do. That’s why I’m a volunteer!
I have been with Wayside House for almost a year and the care, structure, and support that this organization provides is nothing like I have ever seen before. The women who work here truly are about the women they women they serve and being able to see the lives of so man women change is inspiring. I have been blessed with being able to be a part of and bear witness to their mission to aid in the lives of women who are working towards a life in recovery.
The entire staff at Wayside saved my life, brought me out of the depths of my addiction and healed my wounded heart. Forever grateful for the guidance, love and support I received.
I entered Wayside in 1980! I was the first strictly drug patient they took. They got funding and support for not only alcoholics but drug addicts too! It was the first time I was surrounded by love and support! Such a beautiful experience! Phillis Michenfelder was an inspiration! What a legacy she left! To this day40 some years later I would choose Wayside House!
As of December 15th I will have five years of continued sobriety. I was an opiate addict for 10 years. I lost my children, my family and any sense of self. I was 95 pounds and had been homeless for almost a year when I walked into Wayside. What I left with was an understanding of myself and a tribe of women that would stand with me through anything. I was given the tools to pick myself up, it was not done for me but I was given every opportunity to find who I was and that i deserved to be alive. In large part the alumni that would come in and spend time with us that had gone through the same things I had gave me hope maybe I could as well. I take immense pride in being a Wayside alumni. In the last few years I have a career, a home and both my children back in my life. If you would have asked me before do you ever see yourself being happy, self sufficient and putting as much good as you can into the world I would have said it was impossible but through hope, faith and Wayside I stand proud as a woman with integrity, honesty and a life beyond my wildest dreams.
In 1986 I was inpatient at Wayside for six months. Fast forward to 2023….I’ve been clean 37 years and have a Masters in Social Work degree! Thank you Wayside for saving my life .
This Wayside House saved my life literally! I was in such bad shape after suffering from my alcohol addiction for years. I had been in and out of treatment facilities in Orlando, where there were no real programs or real help. When I asked God to help me, I was directed through a series of what a lot of people would call coincidences, although I knew it was Devine intervention. I was fortunate enough to be admitted to Wayside. I hated the first week there! There were so many rules and there was a stringent, dreweling schedule to follow. I soon understood that these rules were put into place for my safety and the safety of others there. What a program they have! The therapists and peer specialists are top notch and really help you fix what is broken within. They help you understand your disease and how to better deal with it. I was treated with love and respect and needed discipline at the same time. I highly recommend Wayside House to those who seriously want to beat addiction and live a normal life again! I couldn't be happier now and my heart will always remember Wayside!
Changed my life, God really does live here! I came in broken and lost, I left feeling strong and ready for the world. Thank you Wayside House!
I was a client at Wayside House in 2014. I started off in IOP but the clinical team knew I needed more help and scholarshipped me into residential. I was definitely a hard case. Didn’t follow a lot of the rules and didn’t do much treatment work. I also had a huge issue with anger. Wayside worked with me as long as they could but got to the point after 80 days they had to discharge me. I was very angry and hurt by this decision because I was still really sick but once I started doing work on myself and worked the 12 steps off AA I realized wayside house did something for me that no one else ever had. They taught me my behavior was not acceptable. My whole life everyone let me get away with anything but wayside finally set that boundary with me which I am now truly grateful for. I was able to make my amends to them and they forgave me and still loved me unconditionally after everything I had done. Every month I would go to anniversary night and they would cheer me on to my one year so I could officially become alumni which was something that meant a lot to me. I’ve been to a few different treatment centers and always AMA but I actually stuck it out there until I could no longer. Wayside was different and special. When I hit 2 years sober I was in a really bad spot and again was scholarshipped into iop. They knew there was a chance I wouldn’t make it without the extra support and wanted to help me. I could go on and on about what wayside has done for me in these past almost 9 years I have been sober. Staff that hasn’t worked there in years still route me on. And the one consistent has been Lisa Mcwarter that probably knows everything about me over all these years and is always loving and encouraging. I love being apart of the alumni squad and giving back to the girls I think it’s one of the many amazing things about this program. Thank you wayside house for all you have done and continue to do I am forever grateful!
Wayside House saved my life. Before coming to know Wayside I battled my addiction alone. I struggled for 10 years to find recovery. I got more out of the first two weeks of treatment than I has gotten out of months in other programs. They helped me get to the core issues of why I kept using and they taught me the tools I needed to to start healing and to be able to live a happy, healthy and productive life. I learned to love myself and the importance of community. After trying to get clean and sober for 10 years without success, I and proud to say that I now have 14 months of sobriety. I am proud to be among Alumni, who not only give back by showing up for the women still going through the program and who also support each other. I could go on and on about how wonderful Wayside House is. I will be forever grateful to them for showing me how to love myself and that there is better way.
Wayside have saved my life. After living on the streets for three years as a crack addict. I was court ordered to the drug abuse foundation where they showed us Tough-love. I was told I needed long-term care, and to be with women. I was sent to Wayside House where they taught me to learn to love myself! That was 24 years ago and I’m still clean. They gave me the foundation that I needed to go out and have a life. I am extremely grateful to them.

I was dying. I prayed..He answered! God gave me Wayside. I'm over a year clean and sober and working in the field of recovery. Thank you God & Wayside! Wayside is an army of Angels ☺️❤️
I was blessed to have found myself in Wayside from Sept until Nov 1981. Days earlier I had turned 19 years old. Back then, Wayside housed only 20 women. I was the youngest in the house at that time. I was what some call a garbage head, meaning I would take anything you gave me if you told me it would get me high, and numbed the pain I felt from my childhood trauma. It happened that my bottom was about the use of heroin, but the type of drug is far less relevant than the fact that I had used everyday of my short life from age 13 until age 18.
Not too long before I got clean, I was living in a 1977 Buick LeSabre in the streets of Miami, and had been to jail a couple of times. In the 42 years since I got clean, and have stayed clean continuously, I have seen a lot of people and treatment centers come and go, but I stuck and stayed and part of the reason I was able to do so was Wayside. Wayside is AMAZING on many levels, not the least of which is that in a world full of fraudulent, dangerous sober houses and treatment centers, it stands as a beacon of integrity, love and humility, a place that offers a solid recovery experience, and teaches those lucky enough to pass through its doors ways to achieve longterm recovery from addiction so they can thrive in their lives. It was the tools I learned at Wayside which have allowed me to live a life beyond my wildest dreams. It was the glimmer of hope and the feeling that even I could be loved and live life without drugs, feelings and a belief I found at Wayside, which allowed me to become a successful, productive member of society. My recovery path took me from the streets, to becoming a lawyer of many years, a criminal law advisor to the Governor of Florida in 2005, to serving as a County Court judge in Florida from 2006-2011 and to serving as a Circuit Court judge in Florida from 2011-2016. I was selected by the Florida Supreme court, because they valued my JUDGEMENT (if you can imagine that) to serve on the Florida Board of Bar examiners to judge the character and fitness of applicants to the Florida Bar who had background issues. Having once been such an applicant myself, having had the opportunity to tell the truth about my background, criminal record, drug addiction and all and still be hired by the late Attorney General Janet Reno to serve as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami, and later, with the same background following me, be appointed by not one but two different Governors to serve as a judge, shows the impact my recovery has had on my ability to contribute to society. My judgment was tested and proven to be sound over the course of decades, and on the strength of that I was given the trust of these public officials. What could account for a drug addicted street urchin with horrible judgment becoming someone with sound judgement and excellent knowledge of the law and the constitution? What explains how a self absorbed loser in life came to be someone who serves others consistently in and out of recovery over a period of more than four decades? A foundation of recovery which I found at Wayside started the story, and that legacy of offering a safe, nurturing space for women to find recovery continues. Of all the lofty institutions to which my path in life has taken me, I can honestly say that I am most proud of my affiliation with Wayside House. I share the feeling other Wayside graduates have expressed -that of feeling so honored and privileged to be a graduate of Wayside, a one of a kind place that saves lives with unparalleled integrity, and has for nearly 50 years.
Going through giant life changes I found myself in a deep depression. I cannot thank Wayside enough for the education, support and comradery. I am so grateful for meeting the amazing staff and students in IOP and OP. I have been gifted with tools which I have never had before. Thank you Wayside!!!! Butterflies - forever
I spent 3 months in wayside at age of 65 and the organization save my life since getting clean 2019 I have had a lot of medical if I had not went thru this program I would be dead my sobriety is aug 12th 2019 I owe my life to everyone from wayside I am currently 3 years clean and living one day at a time. So I am very excited to share a portion of my history I was completely broken no hope or morals left. Today I am very hopeful and happy that I got my life back on track.
Wayside is always there when I need them! The best women’s program for where ever you’re at in your stage of recovery! The treatment is progressive from long term residential, partial hospital care, intensive outpatient, outpatient care and an active alumni program. The greatest aspect of Wayside House is the staff, all women! They run a tight shift, so accountability and responsibility is at the top of their list! Their the most caring people and they truly want what’s best for the women that come through the house. I would recommend Wayside to any woman looking to get recovery and build a strong support system for a healthy long term sober life!

Saving women's lives!
Wayside House recovery for women saves lives! I am close to the recovery community and have lived in Delray Beach for 15 years, during my time here I have met dozens of women that went through Wayside. The women that went through the WH program feel like their lives have been restored, families healed, and relationships mended. wayside House has highly trained therapists and staff that really care about the women!
What a privilege it has been to watch such a powerful program make a real difference in the quality of women lives!
It was truly my honor and privilege to have been accepted into Wayside House in 1994. I came in full of shame and despair over the depths that my addiction had taken me to. I was unemployed and unemployable; homeless; hopeless and helpless. I saw no way out of the merry go round of misery that a 20 year cycle of addiction had put me on. The Staff at Wayside house and Phyllis M. very lovingly and gently guided me out of a pit of despair. I was able to return to society as a productive member and to live relatively happy joyous and free. More importantly Wayside provided me the tools necessary to be able to stay stopped and remain clean and sober regardless of life circumstances. And let me assure you in 28 years life on life’s terms has not always been easy. But it has always been worth it. I thank God that I didn’t get my old life back but that with the help of wayside and the staff I was able to get a brand-new life worth living. I would highly recommend to any woman seeking recovery from alcoholism or drug addiction contact Wayside House!
30 years ago, I was referred to Wayside House for help with my disease of alcoholism. I was greeted with love, compassion, and understanding. Over a four-month period of time I was given a strong foundation on which to build a program that changed my life. Wayside House has been an important part of my life since the day I walked into the house. The passion and giving by the staff are just as wonderful today as it was back then. Today I have the honor of serving as the President of the Board at Wayside House. I highly recommend seeking Wayside House for any woman searching for a new way of life as a sober woman.
As a member of the Recovery community, I get to know a lot of the rehab and detox facilities in the area. In early sobriety I was asked to speak at a meeting at Wayside House. Although I myself, did not get sober through a treatment center, I was impressed and envious of the atmosphere that Wayside House created for its clients. Wayside House is well known in the community. They are a reputable and active in the recovery process. I am impressed, being a non-profit in this field, as most rehabs have the reputation for just looking for the payment. Wayside House invests in their clients, and shows the care and compassion to its women that is needed. Their concern goes beyond the dollar. I continue to be impressed by this facility and would recommend it to any woman that is struggling.
