Programs: Watkins was founded in 1885 and operates as an independent 4 year college to educate artists, designers, and filmmakers. The institution is accredited by the national association of schools of art & design and the southern association of colleges and schools commission on colleges. The college offers a bachelor of fine arts degree in 5 majors - film, fine art, graphic design, interior design, and photography. The college also offers a bachelor of arts degree in art. In fall 2016, a film mfa program was begun. A community education program has always been an integral part of watkins operations.
