Mission: To preserve and enhance the quality of life in the village of mamaroneck and the surrounding area. Wha constructs new housing and improves existing housing for low and moderate income residents and undertakes other supportive activities designed to sustain communities that are culturally diverse, multi-generational and of mixed income.
Programs: Affordable housing: wha constructs new housing and improves existing housing for low and moderate income residents. The organization also provides efficient management services to properties which provide rental housing for low income residents. We currently provide 40 units of moderate income housing in westchester county and are currently working to develop and improve other properties in the area.
community outreach and community development: washingtonville housing alliance also provides community development programs and housing assistance for low and moderate income residents in the mamaroneck area. Wha has run workshops on financial literacy, tenants' rights, and home ownership. Wha undertakes community outreach through local businesses and religious organizations to raise the awareness of the services provided by the organization.
emergency and rent assistance grant program: washingtonville housing alliance is also the recipient of grants earmarked for emergency and rent assistance to clients. These grants are used for eviction prevention, low-income senior home repairs, emergency shelters, and emergency utility cut-off prevention. Over the last fiscal year wha has received $7,065 in grants funding to provide these services. These grants were provided by local government agencies and local organizations. During the same period, over 72 individuals and families were assisted utilizing these funds.
