Mission: The organization's purpose is to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the french and indian war, its primary goal is to raise awareness of this significant period in american history by providing leadership, direction, coordination and management of programs, capital projects and other initiatives developed to educate the public. The french and indian war commemorative effort continues to foster significant improvements in historic sites, k-12 educational programming, scholarly and exhibit-related initiatives, and a very visible and sustained public relations effort that has brought much needed new attention to this important chapter in history.
Programs: War for empire, inc. , d/b/a french and indian war 250, inc. (wfe) concluded its 250th anniversary multi-year programming on november 2008 (marked by the 250th anniversary of the naming of pittsburgh). In 2009, a comprehensive 94-page report, which reviewed all of the organization's activities and accomplishments, was produced and widely distributed. In january 2010, a formal plan of dissolution was approved by the wfe board and its sole member, the board of the allegheny conference of community development (accd). In 2010, the distribution of remaining assets was completed; the transfer of all remaining intellectual property was made to various french and indian war historic sites for their use, and all legal and financial filings were executed. In december 2010, wfe was dissolved.
