Mission: The purpose of the Walden West Outdoor School Foundation is to: Foster the study of natural sciences; raise funds for capital improvements; and provide for expenditures consistent with the goals of Walden West programs. The mission of Walden West Outdoor School is to educate fifth and sixth grade students in environmental and natural science concepts. Their increased knowledge about our natural world will enable them to make informed decisions and foster a stewardship toward their community. Of equal importance is the socialization process in which students learn to become responsible for themselves and others.
Programs: Each year the Walden West Foundation supports: 7000 fifth and sixth grade students who attend Walden West Outdoor School. 500 high school students who are counselors during outdoor school. 250 school teachers who attend outdoor school with their students. 1000 children aged 5-12 who participate in day camp each summer 50 children aged 13-18 who enjoy Walden West Backpack Adventures.
