Mission: Vsa california provides arts, education, and cultural opportunities by, with, and for people with disabilities. Making the arts accessible to people of all abilities.
Programs: Vsa california provided the following programs during fiscal 2013:-"poetry to song" presentation to abilityfirst (50 participants). -"once upon a thyme" presentation to abilityfirst (50 participants). - "small paintings project" delivered at 3 community sites, 2 public schools and 1 residential facility (100 students and 35 adults participated). -teaching artist workshopsadditionally, the following projects were provided:-"young soloists" (8 participants)-"young playwrights" (2 applicants)-"arts create" (95 applicants)vsa california also began a discussion to develop a plan for arts activities and performances during the special olympic world games planned for los angeles in 2015. Regional festivals showcasing the talents of artists with disabilities were held in conjunction with the following events/organizations:-yuba-sutter arts council (500 participants)-marin county "youth in arts" (6,500 participants)-kids with dreams (stanford university) (400 participants)-i can do that! Sacramento (5,000 participants)-merced county office of education (125 participants)-vsa orange county festival (6,000 participants)-very special arts festival at la music center (8,500 participants)the organization also participated in the following related organizations:- california arts education alliance (advisory council)- vsa national network alliance- southern california arts education roundtable- orange county music & arts administrators- california arts council's poetry out loud - orange county
