Mission: To help low-income clients access the civil justice system by providing volunteer attorneys who donate free legal advice and representation, and by supporting and training those attorneys.
Programs: During 2016, over 8,000 citizens of travis, hays and bastrop county received help. Over 640 attorney volunteers donated approximately 15,000 hours in 2016. There were 2,688 pro bono cases opened and 2,708 pro bono cases closed. Of the 2,708 cases closed in 2016, approximately 33 percent involved family law; 21 percent concerned torts, wills, and estates; 19 percent related to housing matters; and 13 percent were consumr law. The remaining 14 percent of cases included a combination of employment and income matters, individual rights concerns, and health and education issues. The organization held 84 evening legal advice and intake clinics in 2016.
