I have been involved with Volunteer Lawyers for Justice (VLJ) from its earliest days -- prior even to its incorporation, and I have nothing but praise for this organization. VLJ fulfills the critical role of finding legal assistance for indigent persons in New Jersey, who, without VLJ's assistance, would not be able to obtain representation and would have to do without crucial services to which they are entitled. Over the years, VLJ has assisted countless children with disabilities receive an appropriate education, countless individuals recover from Superstorm Sandy, countless individuals receive assistance in family law matters, and on and on. There are very few organizations that provide lawyers in the types of matters VLJ handles, so VLJ's ability to leverage the assistance of hundreds of generous attorneys in NJ who volunteer their time, is vital for New Jersey's poor. I cannot recommend VLJ more highly as a place for anyone to donate their time and/or money.
Review from Guidestar
Volunteer Lawyers for Justice connects people who otherwise could not afford legal services with lawyers who are willing to donate their time. VLJ’s mission is to improve the lives of economically-disadvantaged adults, children, and families in New Jersey by empowering them with tools, advice and pro bono representation with the goal of securing fair and equal treatment within the legal system. Often these services provide hope to people who just did not know where else to turn. I am proud to be a member of the Board of Trustees, because of how important the services VLJ provides are to the people who need them.
