Mission: The volunteer center inspires and coordinates volunteers, engages and supports nonprofits, and builds coalitions with businesses, to strengthen anne arundel county and improve lives in the community.
Programs: The anne arundel county volunteer center volunteers create more than 2 million of value added to our community in volunteer time per year. For every 1 hour we're open we generate 50 hours of service and for every 1 donated, we give back 20. 00 in volunteer time to the community. Anne arundel county government has realized the value the anne arundel county volunteer center brings to the community and has donated office space valued at 30,000 for the fiscal year.
the volunteer center effectively works with 'both nonprofit and government partners to improve many areas of life i n our county. This includes support for the department of social services (homeless resource day and other volunteer needs), department of aging (volunteer recruitment for ship and other programs), department of recreation of parks (collaboration with community sponsors on volunteer events that support the parks), and the anne ar undel county public school system (wide range of volunteer recruitment activities and support for student leadership and service). The volunteer center provides services in the following three focus. Areas: ovolu nteerism. Connect people of all ages and abilities to volunteer opportunities that impact community needs. Ocoalitions. Build strong collaborative relationships with volunteers, organizations and businesses to strengthen the community. Oimproving lives. Empower people to provide the skills, resources, and motivation to make positive change and improve lives through volunteering. Volunteerism: during this fiscal year, we referred 3902 volunteers to 385 nonprofit, faith-based, and governmental volunteer programs throughout anne arundel county. These volunteers came from every part of anne arundel county: 25. 9% from north county, 24. 6% from west county, 12. 8% from annapol is, 11. 7% from central county, 8. 6% from south county, 1 8. 8% from surrounding jurisdictions and the rema ining 7. 6% from outside the region. We engage people through facebook, twitter, our blog, website, constant contact e- newsletters and outreach events about upcoming volunteer and service opportunities.
