Volunteer action network has done a tremendous amount of work in the communities of northern Uganda, there's a shift in mindset in the communities both in women economic empowerment and health reproductive rights that have been engaged with volunteer action network, which is good for the development of the country. thank you volunteer action network.
I have seen positive changes in the lives of the women being supported by Volunteer Action Network. For example Veronica is a true example to other women in her village, she says that she learnt so much from the leadership trainings provided by Volunteer Action Network and the partners to the extent that she now speaks with confidence and her opinions are now respected and voice matters in the community and so many women wish to be like her.
I am by the names Angee Fiona and am so glad on all the help Volunteer action network has provided with this the organization has promoted positive livelihood of women and young girls in the community.I was able to get my self lucky girl's sanitary pads and this has made me to manage my monthly period without disturbance during working hours thanks so much Vac-Net for the support and I do pray for the best for the organization.

Volunteer Action Network has greatly improved livelihood in the lives of mothers and alot of women in northern uganda the evidence is so inspiring many women and mothers have been able to grow their businesses through the business skills training the organization provides to them on top of that they also offer to them micro loans, these women educate their children take care of their families on a small amount that they get as a micro loan to invest in their business and that's what makes me fall in love with this organization to turn around a life of no hope to a life of hope which is what inspiration is about bringing back hope.
We have partnered with volunteer action network in a few projects. And I confirm that the organization is causing sustainable positive socioeconomic changes in the communities they work with in a way that is safe in green for our Mother Earth.

"Thank you for the opportunity to participate in the leadership training. Now, I feel more confident and focused, and my dream of becoming a doctor to serve my community feels closer than ever!" - Sarah
I love vac-net so much for so many reasons, when I join vac-net, I have learnt many things which has made my life developing in many ways for example I have learnt how to make lucky girl sanitary pads which is enabling me to help other girls who are suffering from menstrual problem the way I was also suffering before joining vac- net, THANKS SO MUCH VAC-NET.
Am by the names Alobo Joan, am so happy for the support of Volunteer action network by making me to stay in school and competing primary level last year 2023 from Acet Primary school Omoro District and scoring aggregate one in my primary leaving exams, they supported me with Lucky girl sanitary pads where I didn't miss classes, I wasn't ashamed to participate in any school activities and associate with the boys in class discussions, they further built my self-esteem and confidence through mentorship on menstrual hygiene management where i was mentored as one of the peer leaders for the girls talk one on one sharing in the school and outside in the community where I live.
Watching grassroots women walk their way through the leadership ladder has been amazing! Over the years I have had the pleasure of witnessing the invaluable work of the Volunteer Action Network in bringing women to good governance and leadership. Particularly in Acholi-land, women were not allowed to speak or make decisions. These were all seen as work fit for men alone however, with the capacity building and mentoring program for grass-root women, women have become vibrant leaders challenging themselves with their male counterparts. I am convinced that women are better leaders, and we can make this a reality through collective support.
I attended this organizations Business skills training session, They offer the new enrollments.
I can tell you it now makes sense why their programs are very impactful, They equip the women with the needed tools to do, have and run a sustainable business. This changes their lives economically socially and making the households healthier.
Thank You

Working with Volunteer Action Network for more than 5 years, I saw the organization filled gaps in women created by missed opportunities to attend schools through the adult literacy program.

1 of 3 girls in uganda have no knowledge about menstruation before their first menstrual encounter, it is mostly because of cultural taboos that prevent women from discussing about menstruation.
Volunteer Action bet work has taken the initiative to educate not one girl but more than 2000 school going girls about factual menstrual health and in the communities in the districts of Nwoya, Amuru Omoro and Gulu districts of northern uganda .
In so doing teaching them about safe and hygienic menstrual materials and safe disposal of menstrual materials.
The organization ,manufactured and distributed over 3000 disposable sanitary pads to the communities through they’re HEALTH PERIOD INITIATIVE PROGRAM ( HPI).
Without menstrual stigma women and girls can thrive and menstrual health can be addressed without fear.
Girls in schools have managed to go through their menstruation hygienically, safely with dignity.
I am proud to know about this community developing organization

The passionate and experienced staff, no compensation for board members. They empower girls and women and this is a real investment
"What a miracle that I (Aber Concy) can stand on my on"
In 2021, my life drastically changed when my husband unexpectedly passed away on a road accident. At such a trying time, I became burdened with the overwhelming task of providing for my 6 children while already living in poverty. As a housewife who is illiterate, I felt hopeless. I wondered how I could feed my children and pay their school fees.
A friend came to check on me but wasn’t happy at the state I was. She encouraged me to join Volunteer Action Network (VAC-NET). Taking it on trial, I joint and got business skill training and later I enrolled into their Economic empowerment program where I receive a startup capital worth $50. I invested this money into farming and some I started with a small market business in my village. I was overjoyed as a got more than what I expected from my investments.
Through the years, I grown my business with support from VAC-NET and I have been able to feed my family, pay fees and save money to build my two-room house so that I can stay dry during the rainy season.
I’m so much grateful to VAC-NET for putting back smile on the face of my family. “My world has changed.”

Growing in the Gulu, Northern Uganda during the war, during and after the war, the neighborhood sank in dire poverty, with all its effects such as hire rates of crime, rape and defilement sky rocketed. as the old and young alike looks for all means to fend and still safety sane, substance abuse struck the dignity of the neighborhood.
Family roles and responsibilities started to disintegrate with a shift to the burden resting almost solely on the mother, as fathers were in the hide out or being forced to join the rebel or the legitimate government army against their will. After the war, the number of fathers were reduced in the community as many died in the war fronts, with the few left traumatized and lost the sense of roles and responsibility.
As the community was forging her way to recovery from the ware and its effects, women took it to the street's to hustle and fend for their families. my family as one such family, I went through school and the harsh community, thank mother Goddess I survived the evil effects of the war and community degeneration, I went through school, my mother fending for the five of us through small business supported by micro loan giving facilities such as Volunteer Action Network.
I am the few blessed girls in the region who went through school. and I am now employed in Gulu.
I came to learn of Volunteer Action Network, out of affection for what I had about their work, I visited their offices and community where they help women with business micro loans. the effects of these intervention is visible and immense , the communities are hopeful and truth is the community needs such interventions for elevated poverty alleviation to make the world a better place for everyone of us.
Because I Think handouts are not sustainable, But tools such as micro loans to grow and sustain businesses as income sources for the heavily demanding family.
Bravo Volunteer Action Network!
