The Vogel Alcove is an incredible and important nonprofit organization serving the Dallas community. Every weekday morning, approximately 115 children, ages six weeks to five years old, get quality childcare and other vital social services to help them be prepared for success at school. These children may be homeless, but thanks to the Vogel Alcove, they are not hopeless.

Since 2001, I have been a board member. For almost 10 years, I've had the privilege and opportunity to see the faces of homeless preschool kids and hear their stories. They are the littleist and most vulnerable victims of homelessness.

The staff, teachers, and volunteers care for these children with such warmth and compassion. They provide medical and dental care, speech, occupational, and play therapies, etc. to help meet their needs. They are truly making a difference in the lives of homeless preschool kids and their families.

What a joy and blessing it has been for me to experience, and I encourage readers to become involved and ask your family, friends, and colleagues to do the same.

This organization really works to help people out of poverty by giving them something they need to find jobs--free childcare. It is accredited and the staff work very hard to educate the children while their parents are busy. Their social services and play therapists are also an asset.
