Vivoblu Water for All

Results: Over the last six years, the team has deployed more than 5,000 filters across nine countries (Mexico, Haiti, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Cambodia, Peru, India, and the Philippines) to help families in the developing world get safe, clean water. Last month, Convoy of Hope asked if Water for All could deploy disaster relief water filters into one of the hardest hit areas after Hurricane Ida roared through in Louisiana —the town of Galliano in Lafourche Parish, 70 miles south of New Orleans in the Bayou--to provide Vivoblu water filtration systems to those still without clean water. Water for All was honored to receive the call, and immediately deployed a team with enough Vivoblu CORE Family 0.1 micron filter systems to provide clean, safe water for more than 2,000 people in the community. Water for All also partnered with Lowes, which generously provided buckets from its Lafayette store for Vivoblu’s two-bucket filter system, and then team is looking forward to serving these communities with more systems in the future.

Having clean, safe water in households improves the situation of poor women and children. Women and girls are responsible for fetching and boiling water and gathering wood for fuel. When boiling water, they are exposed to harmful smoke and, when gathering wood in isolated areas, they face increased risk of snake bite, robbery, and sexual violence. Our clean water program eliminate the need for this unnecessary work, as well as lowering the risk of waterborne disease—which is highest in children under the age of five. As the traditional managers of day-to-day family expenses, women also benefit directly from reduced expenditures on medical treatment, charcoal, and wood. It would be great to live in a world where everyone has access to clean water… where mothers can provide safe, clean water to their children… where sickness doesn’t rob those children of their education and childhood. Humans can survive about a month without food; average survival time drops significantly when it comes to our essential need for water. According to Scientific American, less than a week without water can be fatal. The ability to distribute clean water during a natural disaster is crucial, and this ability depends on having reliable water purification systems ready to go and in place ahead of time.
