I personally have known the person who runs this charity for over 40 years and know her to be one of the most honest, caring, generous people I have ever met. She has had to struggle with incredibly poor eyesight herself since birth as a result of being born very premature and in an incubator for months in the early 1950's, which severely damaged her eyes.
As a result she has always had a passion to help the visual impaired and never let her challenges slow her down. She also lives with and loves a man who is totally blind. Both of them have worked for many years professionally for organizations designed to help blind or visually impaired clients, (frankly for
This charity was founded in hopes of being able to donate equipment such as computers with software such as Jaws to enable recipients to be more independent and able to seek employment.
I encourage all who see this to donate or help any way you can. No one draws a salary here as of now.
Imagine all of sudden your eyesight is taken from you as is happening to my own sister. How would you cope? You would need a tremendous amount of help, right? What if you and your loved ones did not have enough money to get you the tools you needed but not so poor that the government would not help you or your insurance would not cover the things you needed and you were no longer able to keep your job.
Wouldn't you wish someone was out there to help you with that? Well that is what is non-profit is trying to help with.
I would rank this at a 5 in need and passion but only a 3 now as there is much to do to improve exposure and donations.
