Mission: Encourages artists with life-threatening illnesses to continue their creative work. Visual Aid was founded in 1989 by a group of art collectors and gallery owners to help professional visual artists with AIDS. As the lives of People with AIDS were extended due to advances in drug technology, Visual Aid’s mission expanded to include professional artists suffering from any life-threatening illness, such as breast cancer or hepatitis C. The organization's aim is to keep artists from having to make the difficult choice between maintaining their health or their career.
