Mission: The mission of the Visiting Nurse Association of Central PA is to provide comprehensive, high-quality, cost-effective home health care services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays, to residents who primarily reside in Dauphin, Cumberland, and Perry counties, regardless of race, nationality, color religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, physical or mental handicap, or ability to pay to the extent that funds are available.
Results: Fundraising is a continuous process for the VNA. By developing outside funding, more patients can receive care. In 2010, more than 52,033 hours of home health care were provided, and 2,662 hours of hospice care were given. The quality of care provided by the VNA stands out. VNA home health patients experience a 23% readmission rate, lower than the national average of 29% and better than the 2 main agencies locally. Within Maternal Child Health, only 4% of infants were readmitted to the hospital, mainly because they required more intense light therapy to treat jaundice.
Target demographics: The VNA of Central PA services residents of Cumberland, Dauphin, and Perry counties of any age, income, or other demographic.
Geographic areas served: Central Pennsylvania
Programs: Direct costs relating to nursing services (speech therpay, medical social therapy, physical and occupational therapy, and other nursing services) and personal care services of the elderly.
