Mission: Board approved mission is "to put christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, body for all. "
Programs: The y provides training for teacher/sponsors of the clubs. As an extension of the clubs, the y operates model government programs to teach students about state government and about leadership. The model general assembly is a state-wide youth legislature program for high school students. Assisted by members of the virginia general assembly and staff members from the house and senate clerks' offices, students play the roles of senators, delegates, officers, pages, lobbyists, and reporters. They debate proposed changes to virginia law in committees and on the floors of the house and senate. Mga is a hands-on, learning-by-doing exercise. The model judiciary program allows students to understand virginia's judicial system through a series of mock trials and appeals. Teen leadership conferences are one-day, mini-versions of the model general assembly designed for middle school students. Scholarship assistance is available on an as-needed basis.
