My second review of Virginia German Shepherd Rescue (VGSR). I had my first German Shepherd Dog (GSD), Suzie, in the 1980's when I was in the military. GSDs are a special breed and once you have one you are going to be spoiled for life. I adopted my first GSD from VGSR, Shylow, in 2006. I volunteer with VGSR and have adopted two more GSDs from VGSR, Buddy in 2016 and Little Girl in 2017. VGSR adopted dogs are superb family companion animals . VGSR is an all volunteer organization dedicated to helping dogs in need. I would recommend this organization as one to volunteer with, donate to, foster animals for, and adopt dogs from. There are more dogs in need that could be helped by VGSR if more there were more foster 'parents' available and of course more money available too. With VGSR all funds received are used to pay for care of the dogs, with medical care topping the list of expenses. Consider helping out with this great organization which has been helping dogs since 2001.
Review from Guidestar
I adopted a German Shepherd from VGSR in 2006. Wonderful folks and dogs. A little more than a year ago I started actively volunteering with VGSR. It is an outstanding all volunteer organization with caring folks who work to find good homes for good dogs. All adopters receive a home visit and are assisted in finding a dog that will fit into their home. Highly recommend this organization to anyone who wants to help this wonderful loyal breed of companion animals !!!
