I have three daughters attending Virgina Ballet. I have to say that the instruction is excellent! The artistic director and staff genuinely care about the development of all the students. My family has been involved with Virginia Ballet for over three years now and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. I've seen the ballet students progress both in the dance art form as well as in personal discipline and character. Through the performance opportunities and classes the students learn responsibility, commitment and discipline that is inherent in the theatrical arts. I am very pleased with the impact that this has had on my daughters thus far. I would highly recommend this orgainization to anyone looking to join a ballet company or support the theatrical arts.

I have been with the Virginia Ballet Company and School since 1990, first as a parent, then a volunteer and now as a Board Member. My daughter danced there from first grade through college and still tries to visit whenever she is in town. The people there are family to her. As she grew up, i could see a confidence and self discipline develop. For this I credit Virginia Ballet. I am always amazed at the quality of the productions and the professionalism of all the dancers, from the youngest to the oldest.
As a volunteer, i learned so much about the "behind the stage" events. It was a truly enjoyable and rewarding experience. ..and it still is. I joined the all volunteer board because i wanted to see Virginia Ballet continue to be what it is, a pre-professional school of exceptional character that allows their students to learn and respect the art of ballet, perform major roles in full length classical ballets, and grow into confident adults who can function easily in the ballet world or outside of it.

Our 9 year old daughter has been attending since she was 5 years old. She is in the ballet and character classes and loves it! The instructors are great with children and produce wonderful dancers. The studio is family friendly and works to build the students' self esteem. Parents are encouraged to participate in the organization. I take adult dance classes at the studio (flamenco) and love it! The instruction is great and the camaraderie is wonderful!

I have been a student at Virginia Ballet Company since 2003 and have recently graduated. This company has had an enormous impact on my life and on my dancing. Thanks to the training I received here, I am able to pursue a career as a professional dancer. The artistic staff genuinely cares for the students and pushes them to be the best dancers and people they can. This company gives its students so many wonderful performance opportunities, as well as the experience of performing a variety of full length classical ballets. I have had many amazing years dancing here and would highly recommend this company.

My 7-year-old stepdaughter was captivated by Virginia Ballet Company's production of Nutcracker in December 2005. She was already studying dance and ballet. Her new focus was to train at Virginia Ballet and to be in Nutcracker.
My wife reviewed quite a few dance schools. She found none better. So in 2006 our girl began dancing at Virginia Ballet. The instruction has been professional, and excellent. Dance training includes more than ballet, with classes in character, modern, hip hop, etc.
Our dancer also began performing, in a real theatre, with a live audience. Virginia Ballet's school has a pre-professional focus. That does not mean every dancer will grow up to be a pro, but it does mean that every dancer is treated as a performing artist, in an age-appropriate manner. I have been amazed to see how the poise developed over years, in several dozen live performances, spills over to other situations where poise really stands out. That will be an enduring benefit throughout life.
For myself, I was a satisfied parent, and enthusiastic about the organization. That set me up for being a member of the board of directors, beginning in 2011. And I'm STILL very satisfied and enthusiastic.

When I began searching for a dance school for my daughter I had many concerns, having attended several recitals for dance schools in Northern Virginia. After 8 years enrolled at VBC I am still pleased with our choice. The students are receiving excellent instruction, encouragement to achieve academic success in school, appreciation for tradition and reinforcement in values such as self-respect and a healthy body image. As a volunteer, I have found the students and staff very appreciative. The students' families are very generous with their time and talents. This school has achieved remarkable results, mostly as a result of sweat equity and sacrifice from all involved. VBC has been a powerfully positive force in the life of our girls and boys while producing wonderfully professional productions and preserving the tradition of classical ballet. (Come to a show and you will see what I mean!)
