Mission: The mission of vintage house is to provide and promote services and activities to seniors which enhance their dignity, support their independence and well-being, and encourage their involvement in the community.
Programs: Vintage house provides an evolving array of programs and services for sonoma valleys senior population that enhance dignity, promote well-being & independence, and encourage participation in community life. Programs are offered within 4 broad categories of health & wellness, learning & growing, services & support and social & fun. The majority of services and programs are either free or low-cost. Voluntary memberships are available to all who support our mission at $40 per individual, $65 per couple. Scholarships are available to pay all or part of the cost of membership and programs. An extensive volunteer program served and benefited from the help of 377 volunteers in 2015. In addition to all of our regular offerings (see below) 2015 highlights included: active aging lecture series, advance health care planning workshops, alive inside movie screening kick-off to local project involving intermediate school students and memory-impaired elders, being mortal movie screening based on best-seller of same name, coordination of elder abuse awareness activities locally and throughout the county, trips to regional theatrical productions, free holiday dinners on thanksgiving and christmas, and free flu shot clinics. Vintage house also provides free equipment loans and low-cost facility rentals to other local nonprofits. Vh motto happier, healthier lives for sonomas seniors! Vintage house participants & programsclients range from active retired individuals to those who are frail, from those who are engaged in community activities to those who are isolated, from those who are adept at accessing services to those who are unaware of services and/or unable to advocate on their own behalf, from those who are financially secure to those who are challenged by every increase in the cost of living. Free services include: alzheimer's support group, blood pressure clinic, brown bag supplemental food program, caregiver support & education, diabetes education/support, disaster preparedness planning, health insurance counseling & advocacy program, coda meetings, fraud prevention workshops, health education series, hearing aid assessment, income tax preparation, information & referral services, legal consultations on wills & trusts, lgbt support group, limo*, mens support group, parkinsons support group, peripheral neuropathy support group, stroke support group, vision support program, womens support services, volunteer opportunities. *local independent mobility options offers local rides for non-driving seniors. Free activities include weekly (or more frequent) sessions for: canasta, chess, cribbage, mahjong, quilting group, poker, social bridge, a chat discussion group, a writing class, and two srjc/vh art classes. Free special holiday events include senior seating at the 4th of july parade and traditional family-style dinners on thanksgiving & christmas holidays with home-delivery available for those who are housebound. Low cost activities (typically: $3, $5, $8 per member or $5, $8, 10 per non-member) include: art classes, bridge lessons & games, qi gong, chorale group, computer tutoring, french, german, italian, latin, spanish, language classes, feldenkrais, hula, jin shin jyutsu, line dance, tai chi, watercolor club, yoga, and zumba gold, and workshops in balance, cognitive skills, depression screening, meditation, memory, posture. Low cost or sliding scale services include: home delivered lunch program for frail elderly, senior day services and alzheimers respite programs, flu shot clinics and a mature drivers safety program.
