Village Project is a wonderful place with a wonderful mission. I am constantly inspired by the sense of community- passionate, committed volunteers and staff along with the remarkable leadership of the Executive Director, all ages dedicated to a common purpose by serving those experiencing cancer. The Village Project is making a significant impact in the lives of clients as well as volunteers and I am proud to be making a contribution to this effort!
As a volunteer, I’ve learned how much clients value Village Project’s services. Many volunteers are former clients.
We work hard to provide high quality, nourishing and tasty meals and the positive feedback we receive is gratifying. In addition, our youth volunteers (the all-important next generation) learn about the importance and rewards of selflessly helping others.
This is a win win organization! Members of our community who are sick and in need of healthy meals receive 3 meals a week delivered to their door. Teenage volunteer cooks learn not only how to prepare healthy meals but also the importance of focusing some of their time and attention on their community and other people!
I have been a part of this ministry almost from the beginning and I consider it a great privilege. I have rarely seen God so obviously and openly guiding and supplying for the needs of a ministry as He has been for the Village Project. We have seen miracle after miracle and our faith just grows and grows. No matter the need someone shows up who can meet it or knows someone who can. Not only are our clients blessed but all of us who are a part of this wonderful organization are blessed.
I have been involved with Village Project for about two years. I first became involved because my mom is an oncology nurse and she introduced me to the organization. Village Project positively impacts the community in three ways that mean a lot to me; 1. Helping cancer patients that live in my community. 2. Providing nutritional meals and education on eating real food. 3. Providing opportunities for people of all ages to contribute. Students learning how to cook and even young kids painting flower vases provides valuable skills and an understanding of what it means to help others.
I strongly recommend anyone in the west side of Cleveland get involved in this organization. You will be amazed at how many ways in impacts your life in a positive way.
Being a volunteer at the Village Project has been more than rewarding. I have had the privilege of working with a great group of people. What impresses me is the way all age groups are involved, from young elementary children to seniors like myself. What a beautiful way to teach children and young adults what it means to care for and help others during a difficult time in their lives. I am so glad that I became involved.
Wanted to share my thoughts about this outstanding organization! The Village Project touches so many lives not only going through the struggle of cancer but by engaging students and adults to volunteer their time to support others. This organization fulfills the basic needs of all of us- nutrition and the will to help! Cancer is tough enough, so providing meals is a small way to make life easier!! It takes a Village to provide these services but Barb and her group pull it off with caring and concern! We are so fortunate to have the Village Project in our neighborhood to serve when needed.
I was one of the first clients of Village Project. My wife was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer and the VP was at our front door willing to help us. We received great food for at least 3 days per week. They were always encouraging and supportive.
They helped with meals, occasional respite services and assistance with my fall lawn maintenance. I will never forget that group of strangers that cared! Thereafter, they were no longer strangers; they became neighbors and friends. Thank you VP!!!
From its inception, it has been my joy and pleasure to "pay-it-forward" as a volunteer at the Village Project. Knowing what an organization such as this means to families who have been touched by cancer, is one of the most profound and rewarding experiences of my life. A community come together for the benefit of others in ways that are immeasurable. As a shopper, I see first hand the care taken in planning healthy meals for the clients and families. Beyond the kitchen, there have been countless hands and hearts helping these families on a journey no one wants to take. Thankfully, fewer and fewer have to walk alone with the support of the Village Project.
