I wish we could give ten stars. From the top down, the management and staff at VSM have exactly one priority, and that is to help your child heal. The DDP approach and "We will take care of you!" attitude to our child from everyone at the Villa has literally worked miracles in our child's progress.
We brought our child to VSM from another RTC, and our child's experience at the old RTC was good for the first 1.5 years, but the last six months were a nightmare that completely destroyed the all the gains our child had made there his trust in adults, and more. The CEO at VSM went far beyond the normal admissions processes to see if our child was a fit for VSM, because once our child was admitted, he knew VSM staff would have to rebuild that trust in not only his staff for our child to heal, but in adults and RTC's in general, and wanted to make sure that our child was capable of healing. That healing process is well on the way to being accomplished now.
The milieu at VSM is considered one of the most powerful factors in the healing of the children, and rightfully so. This is where the trust is built, and so it is emphasized, not minimized, as we have seen in other RTC's. Our child has responded incredibly well, though it took some time, given the past experiences. As parents, just seeing our child wearing clean clothes everyday, with a neat appearance, was a great relief, as our child was now taking great pride in their appearance, which wasn't the case at the other RTC. It showed our child was indeed being well cared for, and we knew we had made the right decision coming to VSM.
I could write about a mile and a half long about what a great place of healing and community the CEO has built over the last 40 years at VSM, but suffice it to say that this will be the last RTC our child goes to until returning home. And from what we've seen, heard and experienced, that wouldn't be the case at other RTC's.
