Had a scheduled pick up today. I made sure to really only donate quality, usable items. Clothes, shoes, power tools, bikes etc.. all good quality items. The driver backed into the driveway. We watched him on our security camera physically take the items and throw it several feet into the back of a truck. I can all but guarantee that all of the items were broken, except for the clothes. I will never use VVOA again. Better off to bring it to SA. I thought I was giving to a good cause. Disappointed.
As a veteran raised in a service family, I can't say I one hundred percent support today's political agenda with our troops, but I found it rewarding to be able to actually have SOME control over knowing where my tax dollars end up by getting hygiene items and some other things to these boys rather than some other appropriation that I may not agree with let alone verify. The volunteer coordinator who reached out to me was very friendly, seemed genuine and sincere, and didn't come off as pushy like the PBA calls I've received in the past. Might make this my go to annually for my charitable deductions. I understand the email to verify legitimacy, but some constructive criticism would be to let people know about being a tax deductible donation earlier in the call, I almost hung up. Either way, god speed and thanks for being a human and not a robot. Semper Fi
