Volunteering at VRA has been a great experience and I can’t imagine it not being part of my life. From interacting with the horses to the camaraderie with fellow volunteers and the satisfaction of assisting with sessions I always go home feeling better than when I arrived.
VRA is the place to be if you need some horse time, people time, education, growth, new goals to set, new experiences...we truly are family here whether you are a volunteer or participant in any of our programs. I have been volunteering here for a bit over 4 years and cannot express enough gratitude for everything I have bene able to experience. I never would have seen the amazing things that happen anywhere else!
Victory Riding Academy fills a need that no other organization can or does. Using horses to help enhance needed mental processing of stimuli helps the clients achieve so much more than traditional therapy. The human staff are kind and accomodating - I have always felt safe , extremely important as therapy leaves one very vulnerable. Tony Barnes, the executive director responds to messages very quickly. Jodee Barnes, horse wrangler supreme, is amazing to watch as she works with the horses. Their guidance helps the clients and the volunteers meet ther personal potential. This orgazination is awesome!
I feel exceedingly blessed to be a part of the Victory Riding Academy family. What started as a simple desire to pair my love of all things equestrian with my desire to give back to the military and first responder communities, morphed into the opportunity to do life with some of the most wonderful people that I have ever met. From top to bottom, the people at Victory Riding Academy have hearts filled with love and compassion and they carry out their mission with extraordinary professionalism. I'm honored to be even a small part of such an amazing organization.
