The CT State Council of Vietnam Veterans of America was recently the recipient of a generous grant from the Vietnam Veterans Assistance Fund (VVAF) now the Veterans Support Foundation (VSF). Through this grant, our service representatives were able to help many more disabled veterans in our state to receive disability compensation forom the VA. The grant resulted in more than a hundred-fold return on compensation and pension awarded to deserving veterans.
To assist veterans dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), their families need to be involved. The counseling options for families and spouses are limited through the VA system. Our organization contacted a Psychiatrist from the VA about holding community education classes to help spouses and families and the community at large in dealing with PTSD. Our classes have not only been attended by veterans, but emergency service personnel and people recovering from substance abuse. The Doctor provides step by step direction to improve your life no matter what your situation in may be. Without the grant from the VSF our program would have never gotten off the ground. It provided the computer, projector and all other equipment needed to make this program a success.
The Veterans Assistance Fund has made a commitment to the future of America and has continued to encourage the youth of America. In these troubled times, when there is so much emphasis on negative information about Drug Abuse and Violence, the Veterans Assistance Fund works to help promote programs that support America's youth. Veterans have sacrificed so much to protect America a and the values of Americans. Veterans Against Drugs, with the support of the Veterans Support Foundation continues that mission.
