Causes: Adult Education, Education
Mission: To provide research and education on issues of importance to the natural, human, and economic environments of vermont citizens.
Programs: Networking events - the spring conference is vbsr's largest conference with over 350 attendees and high quality speakers and workshops. In the early fall, we hold our terry ehrich award dinner honoring that year's recipient. This event gathers over 100 attendees. Our fall conference takes place in the southern part of the state and therefore draws a smaller number of attendees. At the fall conference, we acknowledge our legislative leaders of the year and, like the spring conference, there are speakers and workshops. Throughout the year, we hold 8-10 get-togethers which are smaller networking events held in different parts of the state hosted by member businesses. Each get-together has an educational component.
special projects- vbsr implemented the health exchange navigator project, the business energy action project, and the lets grow kids campaign in 2014. For these projects, we provide information and education to businesses and individuals. In the case of the health exchange navigator project, a health care navigator provides education about the vermont health connect health care exchange by holding open office hours at various locations around the state for businesses and individuals, setting up one-on-one assistance meetings, and helping to enroll businesses and individuals on the exchange. Information and outreach about the navigator services are implemented through social media, email marketing, and other means of outreach. For the business energy action (bea) project, the outreach involves directing businesses to opportunities for reducing their use of energy. Bea also utilizes social media and email marketing. The lets grow kids project includes education and outreach to the business community on the brain science and the importance of healthy early childhood development to our families, communities, and economy.
