camp daybreak is a joyous residential programs that has served thousands of vermonters with a range of unique needs. Camp daybreak, founded in 1961, is based on an award winning model that pairs each camper with a volunteer big sibling. The relationship between the campers and these young volunteers makes camp daybreak a powerful and life changing experience for the campers and the volunteers. Last we year we received twice as many applications for camp as we could serve.
we believe that well-trained peers are one of the keys to recovery. We offer the vermont recovery coach academy that gives peers the skills and tools needed for coaching those in recovery. We have particular expertise in co-occurring issues: helping those vermonters who are challenged by mental health and substance use disorders. Since 2010, we have graduated over 360 peer coaches. We have also just received a major federal grant that will allow us to train and nurture the next generation of leaders in the recovery movement. Our camp programs are run by over 60 college age volunteers who are training to be the next generation of leaders in the mental health and social work fields. Our free information clearinghouse provides comprehensive and valuable resources to all vermonters. Demand for the vermont alcohol and drug information clearinghouse grew by 249% in the past year alone, and we added a new mental health information service. We develop resources on the latest trends and threats in vermont; maintaining an active statewide network and presence. We also disseminate current research on recovery, mental health, and health care.
