I have witnessed this nonprofit fostering brave and successful initiatives for years. Keep up the good work VSI.
I visited VSI with as part of the grad school program I'm in, and had an absolutely amazing time learning about the social and ecological issues that Baja faces. Their Aventureros program, which engages local students in environmental education and research, has served a huge benefit to the community, especially during COVID when they were able to provide computer access to students who didn't otherwise have it.
I have donated many times to support this fantastic group of hardworking volunteers, naturalists and trip guides!
I have volunteered with VSI many times and they are always doing great work for the community and the ocean!
The Vermilion Sea Institute is definitely 5 stars. I have been participating in their Stars to Sea program and volunteeering since 2019. The organization truly cares about making an impact and supporting their community. Their youth program, Aventureros, is a program that empowers the local youth to become the communities future conservation leaders. Seeing how excited the kids are to learn and then watching them teach the visiting participants at the field station about the conservation efforts they're participating in is truly inspiring. I cannot recumbent this organization enough!
A truly amazing non profit. They care so much about the people that work for them and the experiences and education they give people.
I first went to the Vermilion Sea Institute in August 2019. The sea station itself has the most amazing view, but what particularly struck me was the relationships VSI has worked to build with the local community. Most recently, VSI has started an amazing program called Aventureros for children in the area. Children can come to the sea station to complete school work, as well as work on skills such as cooking, photography, ect.
This is my favorite non-profit; I volunteer here one week a year and it's honestly the highlight of my year. The work they do both in conservation and with the local community is so important.
VSI is a beautiful place with awesome people working hard to make conservation happen everyday! The lodging is rustic with an unbeatable view. The opportunity to snorkel along the shores and occasionally collect data on marine species is incredible and once in a lifetime. It's a place that feels like home even when it's so far from yours and it's clear that VSI works in conjunction with the local community. They are growing everyday to create new opportunities for conservation locally and globally.
Vermilion Sea Institute is an incredible group that brings true experiences and learning moments to people around the world. With a unique connection to the Sea of Cortez and it’s incredible wildlife, VSI really makes a huge impact on research and community engagement. I’ve participated in VSI programs multiple times now, and each year I find new ways to fall in love with their community and ambitions. You’ll never find a better way to connect with local citizen science efforts, get hands on experience supporting wildlife conservation, or wake up to a more beautiful sunrise.
