Variety So. CAl - Tent #25 has been providing exceptional support of our children with disabilities for more than five years. Through both monetary and in-kind donations, the Board and service providers of Variety have helped move our organization's mission of "providing services to children with disabilities" forward.

Although Providence Health & Services is a healthcare ministry system, each hospital in the system has very distinct needs. While some funders have strict rules governing their giving to more than one medical center in the system, Variety – The Children’s Charity of Southern California gets it! They understand that each medical center is vying for a limited amount of available funding to continue doing the critical work we do in the various communities we serve. We are grateful for Variety’s support of neonates at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center and their most recent support of the NICU at Providence Tarzana Medical Center. The impact of your support will reach across generations to come as the babies who directly benefit from the equipment you funded, grow into healthy, productive citizens in our society.
Variety of So. California is exceptionally responsive and supportive of our organization serving 1500 children and family members in crisis each year. In addition to foundation gifts connecting dozens of foster children with lost or unknown family members through their financial support, recently they dropped by with boxes of goodies for families who are in urgent need -new clothing, videos for movie night and educational materials for our after school program. They have a personal connection that helps us address the needs of the whole child and their family. They understand and are committed to the causes they embrace and we are grateful. As a result of thier work, Variety of So. Cal was a finalist for Philanthropy Day for Outstanding Private or Public Foundation. Winners all the way around!

Variety the Children's Charity of So. California has selflessly cared and invested in the lives of thousands boys and girls living in Boyle Heights and the surrounding communities. They founded the Variety Boys and Girls Club over 63 years ago in 1949. Since then they have invested their time and energy to help our boys and girls enhance their leadership, educational, physical and social skills. Yes, they are our most consistent and largest donor but they also authentically care about the kids, the parents, and the community. It is demonstrated by the board and staff's dedication to passing out toys or calling in to see how we are when something unfortunate happens in the neighborhood and is covered on the news. On behalf of our board of directors, staff and members, I offer my sincerest rating of Variety The Children's Charity of Southern California as the premier charitable organization! Cris Arzate
We so appreciate the generous support of Variety of Southern California for new books for children in Los Angeles!
This year, Variety’s support will help Reach Out and Read to purchase and distribute 6,400 brand new books for underprivileged children in the County of Los Angeles. Our clinic partners (at small community health centers, inner city clinics, large urban teaching hospitals, and private practices) will be so excited to hear that they will be receiving more children's books for their youngest patients to combine with the early language and literacy development guidance given to their parents.
Each Reach Out and Read program will have the materials needed to build the literacy skills of families and young children in order to prepare these children for their first day of Kindergarten. We are proud of Variety’s investment in our work. It is an honor to call them a partner in our school readiness project.
My son was a perfectly normal teenager, until he was hit by a car while crossing the street. He suffered traumatic brain injury as well as a broken tibia and fibula. He was in the hospital for 10 1/2 months. He has a long road ahead, but has recovered to the point where he can write an adaptive bicycle. We requested an application, completed it and sent it in Elizabeth. She made the process so simple and pleasant. She was kind enough to rush the preliminary review process, to that it would be ready for the monthly board meeting. By doing this, my son was able to enjoy his bike during the summer months. They were such kind, generous and truly had their client's best interest at heart. This bike gave him the independence to go around the neighborhood for longer periods of time.

It is with great pleasure and sincerest grattitude that my daughter and I thank Variety-the Children's Charity of Southern California for their kindness and generosity in providing my daughter who suffers from Cerebral Palsy with a beautiful and new therapeutic, adaptive Am Tryke. My daughter now owns her bike that she can control, enjoy, and benefit from in all of it's therapeutic aspects. Thank you Variety for impacting my daughter's life in such a significant way. I still can't believe how quickly the tryke arrived!!! Leslie and Elizabeth
From all of us at Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles, we would like to thank and applaud Variety the Children's Charity of Southern California for selecting Camp Max Straus to receive a new 15-passenger van this year. The support and attention our organization received from the staff and board of Variety went far and beyond other relationships we have with our donors. The experience was amazing and we are proud of our partnership.
