Mission: Variety - the Children's Charity (of Pittsburgh) enables children with disabilities to live life to the fullest with a focus on mobility, communication, and social inclusion / interaction.

Target demographics: enable children with disabilities to live life to the fullest.

Direct beneficiaries per year: hundreds of children have opportunities to discover the possibilities in their own lives through focusing on mobility, communication, and social inclusion / interaction.

Geographic areas served: 64 counties in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Programs: Variety’s My Bike® Program provides children with disabilities with adaptive bikes so they may gain the freedom of a bike and the joy of riding alongside family and friends. Variety's My Voice® Program provides communication devices (i.e. an iPad with a prescribed communication app) to eligible children with a communication disorder to give them a voice at all times. Variety’s My Stroller® Program provides adaptive strollers (i.e. Kid Kart Mighty Lite) to eligible kids with disabilities. Typically, a family must choose between having a wheelchair or adaptive stroller. So, as a wheelchair is more necessary, an adaptive stroller allows for easier “on-the-go” transportation and participation in daily activities. Variety’s “Peak Moments” Program, tailored for children with disabilities, provide places and times for children and their families to be together and have fun, be themselves, be accepted for who they are and feel that they belong to the Variety community/family. For example, Variety hosts an annual Halloween Party at Covestro corporate headquarters outside Pittsburgh and a Holiday Party at Highmark corporate headquarters in Downtown Pittsburgh.

Variety is amazing! They care so much about our kids and want to help them succeed! Please share the word. Do you have a nonverbal child? They can help! Does your child want to ride a bike with the other kids but can’t seem to master 2 wheels? They’ve got you. They also donate strollers for big kids. As a Mom of a nonverbal autistic child, I am forever grateful ❤️❤️❤️

I volunteer for Variety because they help so many children in need. Seeing how much these kids love Variety's programs, like Camp, makes me proud to know I contribute to such an amazing organization.
