Mission: The utah sports commission is governed by an all-volunteer board of trustees consisting of statewide sports, business, and community leaders. The sports commission was created to foster national and international sports competitions to be held in the state of utah.
Programs: Sports events, tv advertising, promotion, marketing - the organization provides sponsorship and/or support to events that are primarily professional in nature and that generate significant media exposure, economic impact, or help to strategically position the state within a particular sports discipline, genre, or category.

Through its efforts, the organization ensures that the state is ready, willing and able to bid on a futre olympic games or other major sports competitions should the opportunity present itself. From the time it was founded in 2000 through the 2017 fiscal year, the organization has partnered on approximately 650 events across 27 different cities and towns throughout utah. Through its strategic and marketing initiatives, the organization will continue to attract, coordinate, and host sporting events that make a significant contribution to utah's economy, image and sports industry.
see schedule o sports awards and sponsorships - the sports awards and sponsorship program is designed to further the organization's efforts to attract and retain sporting events in the state of utah. The program sponsors approximately 50 events annually that drive significant media exposure, economic impact and tax dollars to the state. Sponsorship applicants must demonstrate the award is a key component to the bid, retention, or overall success of the event and must also demonstrate the event will have a positive impact on the local host communtiy. Generally, the organization does not participate financially in the creation or start-up of events with little or no operating history. All sponsorships are subject to the availability of funding.
utah olympic legacy and bid efforts - the utah sports commission has been directed by the legislature to keep utah relevant in the olympic sports movement and to play a lead role in exploring another future olympic bid. The organization has long history of building utah's olympic legacy by hosting and landing numerous olympic sports related events and competitions, while strategically positioning the state with key olympic constituencies. The utah sports commission and the state of utah stand ready, willing and able to host another olympic games. Utah golf championship - the utah sports commission acts as the host organization for the web. Com tour's utah championship, the only officially sanctioned pga tour event hosted in the state of utah. Support for the tournament comes primarily from private sector sponsorships from the corporate community in the form of cash and in-kind donations which offset direct event expenses. Past participants of the utah championship have gone on to achieve tremendous success and include recognizable pga tour players such as john daly, zach johnson and utah golfers tony finau, danny summerhays and zac blair. One of the pga tour's primary objectives through its tournaments is to give back to the local community through charitable giving and the utah championship has assisted in this goal. Since the pga tour began operations, it has given back almost 2 billion to local charities.
