Programs: Air pollution and pregnancy: program description - an outreach and education campaign to help inform the public and medical community on the dangers of exposure to air pollution durig pregnancy. Implemented in late 2014 and will continue throughout 2017 through a series of lectures, presentations, and open houses description of progam's objective - to inform and educate as many new and soon-to-be parents and the ob/gyn professional community within utah on the high risks associated with exposure to certain types of air pollutants during invitro development as well as after birth, with the objectives of helping receipients to protect their babies and also become strong advocates for cleaner, healthier air quality.
wood smoke campaign: program description - an outreach and education campaign to alert the public and air quality regulators on the health dangers of wood smoke during heating season. Implemented in mid-2014 and will continue through 2018 and beyond. Description of program objectives - 1) to inform and educate the public on the health dangers of wood smoke, specifically as it is tied to the use of wood stoves and fireplaces for heating. 2) help build public support for tighter restrictions on wood stoves and fireplaces during utah's winter inversion seasons when air quality is particularly hazardous.
