My son has been a Sea Cadet with the Sacramento Division for several years now and we all really love this organization and all it has to offer. The cadets meet for drill, activities, and trainings. They learn respect, discipline, hard work, team work, and many new skills. There is a vast array of trainings that are available across the country and globe which are affordable and accessible. My son has done boot camp in Oregon and mechanical training which consisted of restoring WWI jeeps. It was very hands-on and he gained skills and confidence along the way. My son hopes to enroll with the Naval Academy in Annapolis and become an officer for the Navy.
Impressive Sea Cadets Corps
I am absolutely thrilled to write review for the Navy League Sea Cadets Corps as I truly believe enough good things cannot be said about them, particularly the outstanding TS California unit and its exceptional leader, LT Kelleher. As a parent of two children who have joined the program, I cannot emphasize enough how impressed I am with the training and opportunities provided by the Sea Cadets.
The Navy League Sea Cadets Corps does an outstanding job of instilling basic military courtesy and life skills in our children. The comprehensive training they receive is truly fantastic, preparing them not only for potential military careers but also for life in general. The values of discipline, respect, and responsibility that are instilled in the cadets are invaluable and will undoubtedly benefit them throughout their lives.
One remarkable aspect of the Sea Cadets experience is the myriad of opportunities it opens up for personal growth and exploration of individual interests. Thanks to the collaboration with the local Aerospace Museum, both of my children were awarded scholarships to the Pilot Prep summer day camp that they will be attending this week. This opportunity is allowing them to delve into their passion for aviation and further develop their skills. Such partnerships truly exemplify the commitment of the Navy League Sea Cadets Corps to nurturing the talents and aspirations of its cadets.
Volunteerism is also a key component of the Sea Cadets experience, and our family has had the privilege of participating in various community service activities. From working as security at the Air Show to placing flags on Memorial Day and marching proudly in the Veterans Day Parade, these experiences have not only allowed my children to give back to their community but also instilled in them a profound sense of pride and gratitude.
The TS California unit consistently offers an array of engaging activities during each drill weekend, ensuring that cadets are constantly stimulated and challenged. Among the many highlights my children have enjoyed, the TAC MED training and certification stands out as an exceptional opportunity to learn vital medical skills. Additionally, the visit from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and their trained canines was an unforgettable experience that broadened their horizons.
One aspect that I am particularly grateful for is the option to join the Cyber Patriot Team. In a world increasingly reliant on technology, the training in cyber security and defense provided by the Sea Cadets is not only relevant but also essential. The opportunity for my children to develop their skills in this rapidly evolving field is truly invaluable.
Although my children are still young in the program, aged 10 and 11, I have had the privilege of conversing with older members and listening to their experiences within the Sea Cadets. Their stories and achievements have reinforced my belief that my children are surrounded by an exceptional unit, one that truly cares about the growth and well-being of its cadets.
Lastly, I must express my sincere appreciation for the Sacramento Division, which serves as our home base. The dedication and commitment of the division's staff and volunteers are evident in the incredible experiences my children have had thus far. I am truly excited about the years to come, knowing that they will continue to be nurtured, challenged, and inspired within the Navy League Sea Cadets Corps.
In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend the Navy League Sea Cadets Corps to any parent seeking a program that combines exceptional training, personal growth, community engagement, and a supportive environment. The opportunities provided by the Sea Cadets are unparalleled, and I am grateful that my children have been given the chance to be part of such an outstanding organization.
I’ve been in the program for a little under a year now, since October of 2022 I’ve had nothing but excellent learning opportunities and a place to go and feel like I’m being a part of something bigger. The community service opportunity’s to go and help our donors or otherwise show respect to the community’s around us come nearly every month. So we are constantly able to do more with our selves. Besides that, my fellow shipmates are always helpful, teaching and showing the way. When I learned something, I could now do as they did and assist others when they need help. In all, the USNSCC can really take you and make you into a better person, I’ve learned so much in the little time I’ve been in the program. It can really change how you look at different things in life and how you approach a situation. I highly recommend visiting and seeing our daily duties and experiencing our training opportunities.
