My husband, Patrick, went to work on November 3, 2021 and, while performing his work responsibilities, was killed inside a machine. I didn't even know USMWF existed. I happened to stumble over them, scrolled back to November and saw they knew that it happened. Since then, USMWF has been there to support me, guide me, and offer resources. I don't know how I would have gotten through this year had it not been for Tonya and other USMWF family members.

Usmwf connected with me after I lost my Husband in a grain bin incident. This organization has helped me in many ways. They understand the pain my family and I have suffered. They are there to help all family at anytime and fight for us all in hopes to reduce these incidents from continuing to happen by going to Washington DC and working with OSHA. I am very thankful to have USMWF in my life. Thank you from the Evers Family

This is Awesome organization that help me when I lost my daughter Whitney Gardner. They have talk to me, emailed me, and advocated for my daughter and I. I cant say enough of the good things they done for me. They have helped me send emails to my legislators and help raise awareness to my daughter and others who lost their life due to work related accident. Ive also been on zoom meetings and conferences with other legislators in other states. Ive met other Parents who have lost and I gained a friend. They also helped me with any OSHA questions or concerns. They also help get my daughters pic and others on a Billboard in my town to bring Awareness. I highly recommend anyone who needs support, awareness, Advocate, Educate to reach out to them. Especially Tonya Ford has been Awesome!

After my son was killed needlessly at his job, a member of USMWF reached out to me. She was a lifeline for me as I had no idea how to navigate this new world of OSHA & all the rest. She gave me advice, put me in touch with others, helped me get official reports I didn't even know were available to me.
Dealing with a work related death is vastly different than dealing with any other. First & foremost they are not the police who will hold the responsible person accountable for your loved ones death. The don't send people to jail. However, with the combined efforts of those involved with USMWF I was able to get a measure of justice for my son.
The people in the organization, everyone affected by a similar tragedy has become like family. They hold events, give everyone a voice to help us feel empowered and tools to begin to heal from the loss of our loved one. I honestly don't think I would have made it through losing my son without their friendship and sharing a common goal of helping others.

I tragically lost my dad in a mining accident in 2006. I wanted to take my tragic loss due to poor safety measures and turn it into something positive. This organization helped connect me with people and support me in rallying in D.C. to make change. They gave me great support and I got to connect with other families who suffered a tragic loss of a family member. A wonderful support group. As a result of their assistance I was able to make a difference and the end result was President Bush signing the Miner’s Act to help keep other miners safe and allow them to come home. I’m very thankful for this wonderful organization!!! Tonya does a wonderful job with USMWF!I have met so many wonderful people across the U.S. as a result of this organization.

I got connected with the organization when my father got killed in the Sago Mine Tragedy in 2006. They helped me connect with politicians in Washington D.C. They supported me as I helped other family members fight for safety. They asked me to travel and tell my story. They were always there to help and provide support. I am so glad I was able to connect with them. The other important thing is they were able to connect me with other families that had been through workplace fatalities. That was a common denominator we all shared was suffering losing someone in a workplace fatality. Such a wonderful group!!! They do great things! I have attached pictures of my father lost in Sago Mine.

USMWF reached out to my daughter and me when I lost my husband, George “Junior” Hamner, in the Sago Mine Disaster of 2006. USMWF is a great organization who connected us with other family members who lost their loved ones in workplace fatalities. They work with organizations like OSHA and MSHA to bring awareness and safer working conditions in America’s workplaces.

USMWF has helped me realize that I am not the only one that has lost a spouse just because they went to work. It has helped me be-able to ask osha some questions, to help me find some peace. I wish I would have known about this organization prior to my husband death. I feel that if employers were held more accountable for their negligence there would not be so many work place accidents. After all going to work should not be a grave mistake

My name is Cassie and I lost my fiancé Frank in April of 2020 in a work related accident.. That could have been avoided.. My life will never be the same.. Scrolling through Facebook one day I came upon USMWF. I thought I would reach out in the hopes someone would be there and listen and know what exactly I have been going through. And there was a whole community of loved ones going through the same feelings of anger, hopelessness, loneliness and confusion. Tonya Ford, has been there from the begining. Because we were not married I was not given a voice nor was I given any information about anything unless his next of kins shared that with me. All the questions I had that had no answers. Tonya and USMWF has helped me with writing letters and making calls to people I would have never been able to communicate with on my own to receive some little bit of information that I needed for myself. I am so grateful for the information I have received to this day. Still have more work to go however I know without a doubt that this organization is here for ME and to help ME. Knowing I have this organization and community of friends to turn too has been amazing. No one should ever have to go through what we as a community have been through and still live through on a daily basis. You should never have to say goodbye and go to work to never come back home.. Thank you USMWF for all you do to bring awareness and support to us all. We are all connected because of incidents that could have been avoided in the workplace. Thank you so much USMWF for all the work you do. CASSIE LEIGH❤

I lost my husband Scott tragically. I was devastated and didn’t know which way to turn. He was 49 and we had been married 25 yrs. 2 handsome boys and we just became empty nesters and were living our honey moon all over again. Until that day…. My world stopped. I never felt more alone. I cannot remember how I found this group but the outreach of many who were going through the same made such a difference. I connected with so many and still talk to many of them to this day. It was when I needed it most that this group came to me.

My husband was killed on the job in Jan 2020. I was numb did not know what to do, USMWF wrote me and I called. They helped with resources, they where there when I need a shoulder to cry on. what I needed to do to get information. When you need resources This group is there for you if you need help in getting information. They are a group that helps with educating, preventing and resources. They have training they work with getting better laws for a work accident that could of been prevented. cannot find a better group with losing a loved one because of a workplace accident. My life will never be the same because I lost my husband due to work accident but there are people who you can turn to and USMWF Is a non profit organization That helps and they do not ask for anything. But all of us are there and they are there for us. You do not have to do this alone. We has the family’s can be the voice of change and USMWF helps with all of it, Laws-Resources-Training-Preventing. My name is Tonya Ford and I am the Vice President and family member of a national not-for-profit organization, United Support & Memorial for Workplace Fatalities. USMWF is an organization that truly touches so many families across the U.S. USMWF is a family based organization that offers support and guidance to families that have been affected by preventable work related incidents and we strive to gain awareness to work incidents preventing others from enduring the same loss. USMWF reached out to me after the loss of my Uncle in January 2009 when he fell 80ft off of a belt operated manlift in a grain elevator facility in Lincoln, NE. I soon realized our family was not alone. I didn't have a lot to give financially however, I could give USMWF my time and dedication to help others across the U.S. as there are sadly, approximately 12-14 workers each day that die in U.S. and many families are forever affected by this loss and are left with a lot of unanswered questions. USMWF strives to help families receive the closure they deserve by helping get the funding for a headstone for a mother who lost her young daughter in a work incident, help the families find their voice and speak to their local Legislature to make workplaces safer, donate safety equipment to local school to educate our children of workplace safety, donation of grain rescue tubes to local fire departments and to speak to family members and help them create something positive out of something so negative, and sometimes it is simply just a listening ear and someone who can understand. Through years of love and dedication by many to this amazing organization we have accomplished so much but have much more to accomplish. Going to Work Should Not Be A Grave Mistake!
