Mission: Urban Youth Alliance International is an indigenous, multicultural, cross- denominational, faith- based community organization dedicated to developing urban youth into leaders and productive members of their communities. The organization was founded in 1970 by young people in New York City committed to living out their faith to transform city's most distressed communities. They started the Seekers Christian Fellowships, an interdenominational outreach to high school and college students that exists on over 40 campuses in NYC today. In 1978 Urban Youth Alliance was incorporated as a non-profit organization and has since developed numerous other programs to meet the needs of the local community, including the only juvenile alternative-to-incarceration program in the Bronx, and a workforce development institute for the formerly incarcerated. At the heart of the organization's mission is the recognition of the unique role that faith and members of faith communities - regardless of specific affiliations - serve in transforming lives, and in building, nurturing and sustaining communities.
