I have been in uplifts program for over a year. I have not received any help with finding a job. The staff is incompetent and lazy. The housing provided is not safe. A resident shot through his front door one day almost killing someone coming up the stairs. Two days later he was back in the building even though the police didn't recover a gun and put us all in danger again. Many residents are mentally unstable and addict's with belligerent and unpredictable behavior. The old Millionaire club staff was great, but since uplift they have fallen off. I was recently given a one year lease. Three months in they are trying to re- neg on that lease and implement a 6 month lease shortening stable housing. ( Who ever heard of a landlord breaking a lease 3 months in. Now I have to worry about housing and a job. The reviews about Uplift are from staff and donors. It doesn't reflect the tenants opinions in any way. People here are worried and miserable at times. I have to speak up. Others are afraid of backlash or getting thrown out. Since I have voiced my concerns in numerous emails and conversations I am done with pleasantly. If you need real help. Don't go to uplift. Any temp agency will get you a job.
This is an organization that makes a true impact on the community of Seattle, providing a hand up to those in need. MCC provides employment placement, both temporary and full-time, and services to under-served communities and those experiencing homelessness. The organization supports success with empowerment tools from the basics like food, showers, and equipment to job skills training and development. Based on MCC's impact, thousands in Seattle are able to access employment and are support what they need to achieve success.
MCC has very passionate and dedicated staff and volunteers. Everyone genuinely wants to be part of the solution to homelessness in Seattle by helping those who want jobs to be employed. The barriers stopping each participant from being employed are analyzed and broken down by MCC or other non-profit partners. Each participant have their own barriers and it is critical to understand and address at a participant level. For some the barriers are small such as a food handlers card or reading glasses for others training is needed on how to interact with others. It is a great honor for me to be involved!
This awesome and unique organization provides the services needed to help folks work their own way out of homelessness and into employment with a focus on Jobs as an important part of that pathway. They provide the basic services to help them such as laundry, showers, meals, vision exams, job training, housing and support service navigation. The organization meets people where they are at and provides a hand up to help them back to full employment and stable food and housing. This organization changes lives every day.
This organization is addressing some of our most pressing issues and working with our most vulnerable populations. Their mission, model and people provide hope and help in order to create a way out of poverty and homelessness.
I've been associated with Millionair Club Charity for many years, and I can tell you that they do great work. They're not really a charity in the sense that they don't just dole out money: Rather, they help people help themselves, not only with finding jobs but also with giving them food, transportation, clothing, shower facilities, and a host of other services that provide avenues to full-time employment. The testimonials for MCC are endless, and sincere. I think that few organizations do as much good as MCC.
If I could give a rating of 0 stars I would. This organization was recommended by a friend who used their services a couple times many years ago. We thought it was great that they helped skilled vets get back on their feet. When I called to request 2 workers, I told the gentleman who answered about the type of work we needed and asked if they had workers who were trained and skilled in this type of work. I was guaranteed that they had 2 very experienced workers who did this type of work all of the time. I asked if there was any paperwork involved or if we needed to know anything else and I was told no. A few days before I called to confirm because I had not heard from the company. Again, I asked if there was anything we needed to know or sign and was told no. The workers they sent were not only late, but untrained, inexperienced and they lied, cheated and damaged our property to the amount of $7,500. I asked 1 of the workers about his experience and he told me he was new and did not have any. When I contacted the organization, I was told by the same gentleman who set up the whole thing that their “workers had not been good since 1997 and that the 1 worker they sent us is known for guilting people out of money and lying.” After speaking with a lot of very rude and unhelpful people, we connected with the Executive Director Jim who told us that the workers lied and that they would take care of all the damage and “make everything right.” He connected us with their insurance broker and strung us along for 2 months saying in emails and messages that they would take care of all the damage. After their insurance company went through all the pictures and estimates they told us to get, they said that none of the Millionair Club workers are covered under their insurance. Now Jim is screening his calls and saying that he can’t do anything else for us. This organization knowingly sends in inexperienced workers who lie and cheat and they are not covered by any liability of the company. If they would have told us this up front, we would have gone with another organization. Now we know why they don’t say anything.
Review from Guidestar
The Millionair Club is a vital organization to the population of Seattle, WA. They provide the less fortunate with hot meals, vision services, job placement services, computer training, and personal hygiene items. I have seen first hand the powerful impact this organization makes on the community. Their mission is one that not only meets a need in Seattle, but exceeds it by educating and inspiring individuals to become successful contributors to this society.
