I am a regular volunteer with Unity Farms Sanctuary and it has been such a bright spot in my life. The love and care they show for their animals is admirable, and so is their mission to educate the public regarding the food industry and animal cruelty. The animals at Unity are wonderful ambassadors for their species. Myself and my children absolutely adore them, and it is important to me that my children see how complex farm animals are. We are so grateful for Unity farms!

I first experienced Unity Farm Sanctuary by taking a tour there one Saturday. I knew right away that I wanted to volunteer there, and I have been doing that for the past 4 years. My time with the rescues gives me great joy and heals all the stresses that have accumulated over the rest of the week. You can feel the love and kindness in every corner of the property and from every staff member and volunteer. This kindness is not only extended to the animals but also to those who visit there and to the community at large. There is no place I would rather donate my time or my money.

I’m so thankful that Unity Farm Sanctuary (and its founders) came into my life four years ago. I love all that Unity Farm Sanctuary does, not only for the animal residents but also for the volunteers and visitors. It provides an uplifting, inclusive and wholesome environment where one can feel peace and love all around. The animals, of course, are amazing and often funny and entertaining too, each with their unique personalities. UFS exemplifies kindness and compassion.

Unity Farm is such a gem. Animals are treated with great respect and dignity and are very comfortable. The Sanctuary is clean and beautiful, with miles of trails as well as community programs. We are lucky to live nearby.

My daughter and I have been involved with Unity Farm for two years and we couldn't love it more. We've volunteered, my daughter has taken an animal care class, and our family has attended many events there. It's such a special place-- the animals are well-cared for, it's organized and well-run, and everyone is helpful and kind. We feel so lucky to have a place like Unity Farm in Sherborn.

I visited Massachusetts this summer and did a tour of this beautiful sanctuary. Lovely grounds, the animals are so well loved and cared for as well. I have some sanctuary experience and calm, happy animals that look like they are living their best lives is proof of that!

I’m a DCF emergency hotline foster parent. Last winter, I had a 10 year old girl with me for the week. She was struggling and in constant movement, and she still wasn’t able to regulate after efforts to play with her, give her opportunities for exercise and work with her. I’d heard of Unity Sanctuary and called. I got a call right back, and we arranged a visit the following day (when the Sanctuary would otherwise be closed), just for this girl. She loved her visit, the staff member there who was cleaning and tending to the animals was so kind (even though it was a freezing cold day). The girl connected with all the animals, who were all very patient and loving toward her. Afterwards, the girl was all smiles, and while still talkative and excited, she was able to sit comfortably in the car. She was so at ease that day, I was able to take her to do other fun things, and out to eat. What a difference Unity made in her life.

It all started during a pumpkin tour in 2020. It was love at first sight. Hearing the stories of the incredible rescues warmed my heart. The kindness, compassion, love and caring was obvious. I immediately followed Unity Farm Sanctuary on social media, checking in regularly. When it was announced there was a need for volunteers I signed up at once. Two years later, four more of my family members are volunteering with me. UFS is a place of happiness for the animals and the people who get to know them.

Unity Farm Sanctuary is a retreat from the hectic lives we live everyday. Spending time with these gentle beings helps to soothe the mind and soul. Taking a moment to hear their stories and how they found sanctuary is a first step to understanding why animal sanctuaries are important. Visit Unity Farm Sanctuary to learn about the residents, walk the trails, soak in the calmness and make friends with goats, sheep, cows, horses, pigs, alpacas, turkeys, donkeys and feathered friends. Kindness matters.

Have been for story time with my niece and it was a wonderful experience. All the animals are well cared for and loved.

Been involved in animal welfare-rights-and animal law for decades, so a good run sanctuary for animals really matters to me - an important role to play by folks who understand how to run a proper and caring work with their animals. This is Unity Farm Sanctuary. Just a model sanctuary. Thalnk you.

I have had the pleasure of visiting Unity Farm Sanctuary twice now. We are so incredibly grateful for the work they do in rescuing these sweet animals and also educating the Greater Boston community. They are helping people to realize that farmed animals deserve freedom, safety and love, just like all creatures. Thank you so much to this beautiful place!

The 200 plus animals (including many beloved birds) who call Unity Farm Sanctuary home have one thing in common - they are as safe from harm as can be, they are seen as individuals and they are loved. Life prior to arrival was different for each animal. Pal, the steer, was on track to be slaughtered when he broke free. Ms. Roger the pig lived in an apartment building her whole life. When she arrived at Unity Farm, she hardly looked like a pig at all. She was a peculiar looking creature, unfamiliar with every single thing around her. How gently and slowly her new caretakers introduced this sweet girl to life! Now, after many months of rehabilitation, she has a roommate named Hazel. They make their nest together - so cozy. Our timid (but very brave Ms. Roger) makes short trips out on her own now to see what she can see. Many animals at the Sanctuary have been "used up" by others. Old animals become a burden. Lame and sick animals require vet care. Unity Farm Sanctuary takes as many of these "cast-offs" as it possibly can. The Sanctuary has an education program to expand it's reach. For the animals in need with no safe place to go; for animals caught up in socially acceptable, systemic cruelty, education is key. The message is that all animals, human or not, feel joy, sadness, pain and fear. Nonhuman animals are more like us than not like us. After a few years of volunteering at Unity, my one day a week there has become vital to me. It's a safe place for all animals - including the human ones. There is no place for harshness or cruelty at the Sanctuary, only devotion and love.

Unity Farm Sanctuary was a life saver during a difficult time. I had a friend with two horses who fell very ill and she could no longer care for them. Unity stepped right up with no hesitation when we reached out for help. Their staff was incredibly kind, generous, helpful, friendly and more. You can tell they truly care about the well-being of their animals and they take impeccable care of them.

UFS has the most caring staff taking care of so many needy animals. The staff and volunteers work tirelessly, always with a smile, keeping the animals happy and healthy. And the staff always has time to answer any questions, educate and assist volunteers. It’s just a happy place. The rescue animals know they are safe and seem to have smiles on their faces. They come up to the fences, knowing they will get scratches and pets from their human friends, not abuse. It’s a wonderful caring sanctuary.

I loved my experience volunteering with UFS. They are educational, accessible and most of all put their animals first.

Each time we visit, we can feel the dedication of the staff and the joy of the visitors. The animals are so well cared for and have plenty of space.

It is more than care that the rescues receive at Unity Farm Sanctuary. To Kathy and John, they are family. They devote every part of them. They make sure they are warm in the winter providing wiring for heated areas, cool in the summer, all sorts of stimulation to keep the rescues entertained and happy, good healthy diet, top-notch medical care just as you would to a family member. The best interests of the rescues are always put first. They are constantly seeking ways to make every day more exciting and fun for them. They have hearts of pure gold. I have worked in the special needs field for over 30 years so have witnessed a lot of kind compassionate people but Kathy and John at Unity Farm Sanctuary are more than a cut above anyone I have encountered. I have never met people as selfless, kind, generous and with hearts the size of theirs.

Unity Farm Sanctuary is a magical place where so many innocent animals are living their forever lives in their forever home. Kathy and John Halamka have dedicated their love and compassion to help innocent animals — once farmed, elderly, needing medical assistance — or just a place to call home. Each of the animals and birds (over 200) receives the best care and love possible. Devoted volunteers help everyday in the Sanctuary’s mission to care for the residents. This is my nonprofit of choice for financial donations and I proudly sponsor Napoleon — the little goat monthly.

My family and I absolutely love Unity Farm! The animals are so loved and well cared for. Each animal has a wonderful story as to how they ended up at the sanctuary. The amazing staff and volunteers are always available to give info about the animals. It’s a treasure in Sherborn for sure!!

Unity Farm Sanctuary is such a beautiful place. As a volunteer there, I have gotten to see the compassion with which they rescue and care for animals. They are truly dedicated to their mission and spreading the word about the need for humane treatment of animals.

Ever since I took that tour with my girlfriend last year, I've been volunteering occasionally at this wonderful animal sanctuary. As someone who's crazy about all animals, it's like my happy place! The sanctuary doesn't just give these farm animals a second shot at life, it tells their individual stories. Every furry or feathery friend there has a tale to tell, from their rescue adventures to their quirky personalities. The tours are eye-opening. They make you see these animals in a new light, not as dinner, but as pals deserving all the love and respect. Kudos to the amazing work being done here! If you've got a soft spot for animals or just wanna learn something new, drop by. trust me, it's worth it!

I have learned so much since I started volunteering at Unity Farm Sanctuary last year. It has taught me so much about the connections and similarities between my life and the lives of animals and has even inspired a career change - I’m back in school doing a pre-veterinary post-baccalaureate program so I can apply to vet school in a few years

I volunteered for UFS until we moved recently. It was an extraordinary and unique experience because the love and commitment to each and every creature was obvious everyday. Having been around animals all my life I could feel the safety and comfort these animals felt there. UFS teaches and models love and kindness beautifully.

True to the mission of kindness, this organization does a great job on humane education, offering learning opportunities for people of all ages, providing a meaningful volunteer experience, and caring for the animals.

As the Director of another smaller Sanctuary, I have great respect for Unity Farm. They are a well managed, caring facility.

They helped me save my pig Danny Boy when he had no where to go. Adopted as a mini he is a meat pig in reality. I visit him all the time and his care is superior. A wonderful sanctuary run by very caring people with wonderful volunteers. They deserve more than a 5 star review.

The care and dedication Unity Farm Sanctuary gives to all of their rescues is above and beyond. Every time I visit I see the success of the tireless attention, dedication, and hard work put in by Kathy, John, the staff, and all the volunteers. Early mornings, late nights, sweltering heat, cold, rain, snow do not hinder the loving care the animals receive. The residents at the sanctuary are extremely fortunate to be in the care of such amazing individuals.

I learned about Unity Sanctuary Farm when they picked up their food donations at Grace House. I was very interested in learning more about them and started following them on Facebook. I love the evening videos as Kathy puts all the animals to bed. She does this with the love of a mother. If an animal falls ill, Kathy provides regular updates on them. Volunteers visits the animals at the hospital so the animals know they are loved. The animals are cared for amazingly well at the farm. It is worth a visit and support. Unity Farm Sanctuary is a true blessing.

My 11-year-old daughter and her friend call this place their “home away from home.” We are so grateful for Unity.

I have always loved animals, but didn't have much experience with farm animals. I had read an article about Unity Farm Sanctuary and thought it would make for an interesting place to visit for our family. We all enjoyed the educational tour and, when we learned that one could volunteer, my family all encouraged me to sign up. A few months later, I began going to help clean paddocks and give scratches and brushings to the sheep and goats in the welcome corner in particular. I quickly learned how much love and dedication (and monetary donations) is needed to help these beautiful creatures live out their lives in the best way possible. I enjoy sharing information/stories with visitors who come to drop off pumpkins for special treats for the pigs or to tour the sanctuary that is run so efficiently and with such compassion by the owners, staff, and volunteers. Not only has sanctuary become my "happy place", but gives me a great sense of fulfillment that I can make a difference too.

Wonderful place! The animals are incredibly well cared for, and the owner is open to giving tours, educating the public and advocating for her residents. I can’t wait to go back.

I happened upon Unity Farm with my 1 year-old as part of a new mothers’ group event. The owner, Kathy, ran the tour and was so kind, knowledgable and you could really sense her love and compassion for all the wonderful animals with their unique personalities. (We even had a turkey named Turnip follow us around for the entire tour, fluffing his feathers up in an attempt to get some pats and attention, I never knew turkeys had that much personality! He was more like a puppy!) I fell in love with the farm and its message, and started volunteering the following week! The animals are so loved and well cared for. Spending time there is my favorite part of the weekend. I highly recommend the farm tours and also storytime.

Honestly, 5 stars doesn’t do Unity Sanctuary Farm justice. I have never been around so many animals who - I could feel - knew how loved they are. For many of the animals here, they have been given a second chance to live the life they deserve. My husband and I volunteer there one morning every weekend and it’s always the highlight of our week. This Sanctuary changed my life and I am so happy it exists to serve as the forever home to so many special and amazing animals. In addition to the animals, everyone involved- from the Co-Founders, staff and volunteers, are great people and there is a real sense of community.

I went for a tour of the sanctuary earlier this summer. I had not heard of them prior to visiting and had no idea what I would find. What I did find were many animals who had found a safe and caring place to live out the rest of their lives. I believe these animals have indeed won the lottery! The love and dedication to these animals was abundantly clear. I continue to be impressed and in awe with the efforts they go to in order to provide the best for those in their care.

My family was looking for animal-centric volunteer activities that allowed my youngest (age-10 at the time) to participate and we found Unity. Kathy gave us a robust orientation that made us feel safe and prepared - her passion for giving these animals the best second chance at life is amazing. The kids love sweeping up goat or llama poop, petting the livestock dogs, and watching the guinea fowl run around the beautiful property. Unity feels like a little utopia - welcoming to all kind hearted humans motivated to share love and care with farm animals.

Unity Farm Sanctuary is an incredible animal sanctuary run by vegans. They take in so many animals who would otherwise have no prospects and take incredible care of them. Such a hard working a loving group of people.

I volunteer here and one of the most comprehensive and caring sanctuaries around. The animals are well attended to, the staff are very knowledgeable and the owners possess a high degree of giving back in the care they provide. The most special place. My son and I volunteer as much as we can and it's the highlight of our week. All of the rescue animals - from the goats to cows to chickens and alpaca to steer and horses (big and mini) to all kinds of bird, each and every unique soul is cherished. So many chores to do including mucking, brushing, watering, feeding and soothing. We feel lucky to know Kathy and John and all of their animal pals.
