The community impact work of united way includes collaborating with other organizations to develop programs and community initiatives coordinating and providing gifts-in-kind initiatives, agency program and fiscal evaluation and feedback, and non- profit capacity building and leadership development. donor directed contribution: provided as a service to the united way donors, united way serves as an agent to forward contributions to other 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations who provide services in the health and human services arena and have a physical presence in the state of iowa as directed by the donor.
the rsvp of monroe, wapello, and jefferson counties is a volunteer program for individuals aged 55 and older. Rsvp connects you with meaningful volunteer experiences that fit your schedule and match your skills. As an rsvp volunteer, you will aid the united way of wapello county in advancing the common good through improvements to our communities education, income, and health. Rsvp volunteers serve in a variety of ways and always lead with experience. The program served 75 people during the fiscal year.
volunteer center: provides individual training, recruitment and placement of volunteers in our community. The volunteer center also implements annual day of action, day of caring and days of service that utilizes over 400 volunteers throughout the community. The volunteer center provides skill building to volunteer managers by offering a volunteer management certification program and monthly directors of volunteers in organizations trainings. The program helps build the capacity of organizations to more effectively engage and utilize volunteers. The program served 887 people during the fiscal year.
