Mission: Unite people and resources to build a stronger community. Our mission is to improve the conditions of marion, polk and yamhill counties by mobilizing people, time, talent, relationships, expertise, technology, financial assets and other resources to improve people's lives.
Programs: Community impact-united way of the mid-willamette valley works collaboratively with local social service agencies, schools, city administrators and health services providers throughout marion, polk and yamhill counties to identify community needs supported by current data. Data management is a tool used to assist united way in directing financial support to programs and projects that are tackling root causes. We see social issues that are critical and our grants that are dispersed through the community impact fund are very intentional in supporting collaborative projects that focus on improving educational outcomes for children, wrap around services for families with children and financial stability projects that bring new skills to adults with children. United way of the mid-willamette valley understands that a healthy and knowledgeable parent will bring better support and opportunities to all aspects of their children's lives. These collaborative projects funded by the united way of the mid-willamette valley must be comprised of more than three different agencies working together to resolve complex issues. During the 2016-2017 fiscal year, 67 human services agencies received funding through the community impact funds. The community impact funding was disbursed based on three main priorities: - education: to support children, youth and families in achieving their educational potential from cradle to career. - health: to support people in accessing health care and preventative services, as well as engaging in healthy behaviors. - financial stability: to promote financial stability, independence and new skill development for families, individuals and youth.
good360 program - this program is a partnership through the national good360 that allows the united way of the mid-willamette valley to obtain retail goods from regional and local businesses and redistribute them to nonprofit agencies in our region. Donations come from store partners such as home depot, bed bath & beyond, williams sonoma, guess, pottery barn kids, and pottery barn. United way currently has 50 registered agencies who attend the good360 distribution event which is held once a month. During the distribution event, these organizations take whatever items are available and useful to provide extra services to the communities they serve. During the 2016-2017 fiscal year 27,476 individuals benefited from the program.
designations - united way of the mid-willamette valley (united way) conducts an annual community giving campaign to raise funds, recruit volunteers and to increase public involvement and commitment to addressing high priority health and human care issues in marion, polk and yamhill counties. United way offers individual donors the opportunity to designate their gifts to eligible nonprofit organizations. Designations are paid to the nonprofit organization when collected from the donor. For designations to nonprofit organization located in the state of oregon, united way charges no fee for this service. In order for the united way to forward a designated donation, the designated organization must meet the following criteria: - contributions to organization must be fully tax deductible for the donor (thus excluding political campaigns, political action groups, tuition, dues, sponsorship for fundraising events or other payments for services) - organization must be located in oregon (with the exception of other united ways) - organization must be in compliance with all necessary registration and filing requirements for 501(c)(3) charitable organizations according to the internal revenue code governing nonprofit entities - organization must complete an agency verification formentities that are considered to be a government or educational institution, regardless of 501(c)(3) status, (i. E. Colleges, universities, private/public schools, cities, counties), or designations that would result in the donor receiving value such as sponsorships, auction items or memberships are excluded.
